I'm new to the discussion and in the VSG pre-op stage. I've met with the surgeon, my PCP, completed part 1 of the stress test, and done the blood work, so I'm well on my way.  I'm curious if you would share any suggested reading materials that were of help to you. By way of introduction, I'm an executive administrator at a research university, active in my community and dedicated to advancing issues of diversity and difference. I'm married with 2 gorgeous, athletic sons and 2 adorable grandsons!

Thank you in advance!

Everything - I read through every post on this forum and all the comments.  I googled "VSG blog" and read everything I could find.  I read some books - mostly memoirs.  I googled and read lots of articles.  I read ASMBS stuff.  Basically if it existed, I tried to find it to read it.

And, 9 months later, I still do these things!  :D

There are some people who can get overwhelmed with too much information, but I am not one of them.  I want to know every single thing there is to know.  :D  Of course, then I have to rely on my own decision making process to choose what information I'm going to utilize myself.. but that's sort of part of the fun of life, right?
