5 weeks out
That's really foolish on your doctor's part. At this point, your stomach is still healing so you can't trust any "full" signals that it would be able to give you.

We are all so different and capacity goes right along with it. 5 weeks after having surgery I could only eat 1/2 of an egg. 1/2 of a Baby Bell cheese filled me! For the most part I could only eat tablespoons of food, and most of the time I had to really rely on protein shakes to get in enough calories and protein. My stomach was super small and still is I guess! Now at just over 2 years out, I can eat 1 1/2 eggs, but most of the time I only eat 1 with a little cheese in it. Some days I might eat in a piece of bacon with the egg.
Even though your doctor doesn't have you measure your food, I've found that was the best way for me to eat. There is such a fine line between satisfied (or "full") and "oops I ate a bite too much", which for me is an awful feeling. It only took having the "foamies" twice for me to learn how important it was to make sure not to eat too much or too fast. Eyeballing it isn't as easy as I would have thought and my stomach fullness wasn't/isn't always a reliable way to know when I'd eaten enough. In saying this, I'm only trying to help, which is what I think most of us on here are trying to do. Please don't take it as criticism on what your doctor does or doesn't have his/her patients do.
