Packing takes a lot longer these days

I travel quite a bit and pre-surgery had my travel routine very well established. However, these days, packing takes such a long time because I have to try on almost everything to see if it fits. I'm not complaining that I am changing sizes but this was definitely not one of those things I planned for pre-surgery :)

Wish I could find something in that darn closet of mine that I could wear to Christmas Eve service.

I can relate, I must have tried on a half a dozen things today trying to find something acceptable to wear to the office party that was today. I hate to buy anything before I'm at my final weight/size, since I don't want to waste the money. Maybe the after-Christmas sales will help?!

I was such a yo-yo dieter that I am going to be good to shop in my closet for quite a while. I figure I will splurge and buy 1 new outfit per size. However, that one new outfit must make me feel great! No more buying stuff because "it will do" or "it will work". I'm not allowing myself to get sucked into those mental games by the items hanging in my closet.

LOL. Listen to me talking all tough. Now I just have to make sure I follow through. Pretty sure this topic will come up once or twice with my therapist

Good idea, the one outfit a size deal. I look at what the world is wearing in "Thindom", and realize I really need to think about the choices that are out there. Clothing is so expensive and I need to choose wisely. As I'm 53, trendy things aren't the best for my lifestyle, and it will be so easy to go overboard with my new size-everything looks so tempting! But it is exciting to start looking and planning for my "new style"! Good luck to you, too!

LOL, yes!  And even though my clothes are smaller, I have to pack more since I take exercise gear everywhere I go now.  So I need just as much room as I did 120 pounds ago!

I'm glad my Christmas Eve service is a casual sort of thing, since I do not have fancy clothes aside from my voice recital dress :P

Yes, Gwen that is another thing that is causing me issues. I am actually taking exercise gear too. I am trying so hard to get my stamina up and refuse to lose 2 weeks progress. I don't care how cold it is going to be. Between exercise clothes, Christmas eve clothes and normal clothes I am going to have to check luggage. Ugh. Oh well, it could be worse.

But how on earth do I fit into only 1/2 of the next size jeans I am in? I have 6 pairs in that size. 3 fit, 3 not a chance. Weird.

Yes, it could be worse.  Traveling is so much easier after weight loss!

I hear you on the jeans.  This is pretty much why I switched to skirts around three months out.  Pants are too complicated.  They'd fit in the crotch but not the thighs, or the thighs but not the waist.  ARGH.  Too much hassle for me :P

A trick I learned in my heavy days that I'm going to stick with as I get smaller... EBAY.  I knew my size at places like Talbots, JJill, etc.  I would buy "gently used" or overstock things on eBay from reputable sellers.  I have done that for most of my wardrobe (heavy wardrobe) and had very few problems with things not fitting.

Just a suggestion!

I feel your pain!  I travel every 2-3 weeks.  I find I'm still packing clothes that are way too big...plus workout clothing and sneakers.  I wish I could just be a carry-on type of gal, but I have to check bags still!
