Moving homes right after surgery

So my question is how much help did you need after surgery. I will be moving closer to my mothers after but out of the home with my best friend. We're you able to meet all of your needs alone or do you think it would have been better with help? I have the option of my 18 year old sister coming to stay a few nights of the week if necessary. Any tips would be helpful.

Also so what about getting up and out of bed? Would a recliner be better?

It would be safer to have someone with you for a few days , most people can get along fine alone but if there is a problem you may need help , and it is possible that you are one of the people that have a harder time at first so some help would be useful, also driving is out for the first few days to a week till the pain meds are out of your system

I stayed in a recliner most of the time in the hospital and the first few days at home , more problems geting into bed than out

remember the pain button in the hospital, and to sip and walk

a hot towel is the best thing for gas pains from the surgery(co2)

see you on the losers bench

I would say it depends.  Some people probably would need some help.  Others wouldn't.  Just depends on how you react to the surgery.  I spent 2 nights in the hospital and after that, I was fine.

I had no problems getting in and out of bed.  They gave me a body wrap, but I only wore it once in the hospital.  Just too much hassle.

What kind of body wrap and what was the purpose?

It was some sort of wrap that covered your abdomen.  They gave it to me in the hospital.   It was supposed to help take the stress off the incisions.  I used it twice, more trouble than it was worth.

I had surgery almost 2 weeks ago. I did not need any help with my needs. If you are moving, the only thing I was told REST and NO HEAVY LIFTING. I had to really focus on getting my fluids in and protein. I had to watch the clock a lot. Sip and walk 5 min every hour and  rest. Hope this helps.

I spent two nights in the hospital (which is when I needed help) but after that I was fine on my own.  I didn't need a recliner, I just propped myself up a bit with some pillows and slept on my back for a few nights.

Good to know. Thanks for the info. What did you feel you needed help with by the staff?

If you can give yourself a companion for two days and a recliner that would be best.
