Is it better to stay under calories or go over a little in order to get enough protiein

Because of a calculation error, i find myself in a situation where I will exceed my calorie limit in order to even get close to enough protein.  My choice is to get the protein but I wonder if that was the right choice.  I need 20 more grams of protein but have 48 calories left :( so I will go way over to get the protein.

Calories shouldn't be on your radar.  Don't think about them now.  Later when you are eating a variety of different foods you might want to keep an eye on them. You need to not skimp on your protien. Don't worry about calories.

During the weight loss phase (after transitioning to a full diet), I tried to meet my protein goals while eating as few calories as possible.

I evaluated the 'quality' of the food by selecting protein sources that met what I described as the 10-1 rule. That is for each 10 calories, there had to be at least 1 gram of protein. For example, that meant there had to be at least 10 grams of protein per 100 calories. By using this method, I naturally gravitated towards dense protein.

I stopped eating when I reached my protein goal for the day. Hope that helps!

how many gm protien does your plan call for

if its 80 gm and once in a while you have 65 it will be ok

but if you eat 40 gm protien all the time your will damage your muscles and organs

I try for around 800 cal 80 gm protein

add a shake if you need to

My plan doesn't care about calories at all, so I'd do what I normally do and make sure to get in all of my protein.

As few as possible. I do under 30. Look up ketosis. You want to be and stay in ketosis. That is when your body is optimally burning fat

Calories don't really matter, it's really all about the quality of your food.

You should be eating healthy saturated fats first, then protein, then healthy veggie carbs last.  Skip all food containing any grains or sugars.  From there eat whenever you are hungry, eat what you need to quell the hunger, and ignore any advice to count calories.

If you do the above, the inches will melt away and you'll not feel hungry.
