What are normal blood work results after VSG?

I have searched the boards, and have found a lot about blood work results, but nothing showing what the normal ranges are for us after we have the VSG. I am asking because today I found out from my PCP's nurse that my blood work shows that I am dehydrated, anemic and malnourished... So I call my surgeon's nurse to ask her and she said all my blood work was normal. Then talked to the bariatric center nurse and she said all of my levels are borderline low... I am so confused! I would like to have all the levels that I should be at so I can compare myself and also to give to my PCP to have on file for me since my surgeon's nurse said that bariatric patient's and non-bariatric patients levels are supposed to be different? I had never heard that before... I hope this made some kind of sense and someone can help me out here. Thanks in advance.

Normal ranges are the same for people who are post-op and pre-op.  So if your labs (and you should get a copy of them to see for yourself) say that things are deficient, they're deficient.  I think your surgeon's nurse doesn't know what she's talking about..

Well, I know she doesn't know what she is talking about.... I swear she has some issues. I thought they would be the same, but then when my bariatric center said that post-op and pre-op would be different I questioned it. I am researching now to find all the information I can. I have an appointment on Wednesday and I plan on being prepared with documentation. Thank you for your response, I am going to get my lab work from right before I stared the program until Christmas Eve (last time it was checked) and be prepared with that as well.

You might consider working with your PCP when it comes to your blood work.  That's what I do and it's working out well so far!

I have to do something, I am 6 weeks out today and still have a PICC line because I can't get in my fluids and I am still unable to tolerate protein shakes. That alone tells me my blood work should be off.

Erk, I didn't realize you'd had complications.  Good luck!  I hope your bariatric center has answers!

Well, I woke up from surgery with pneumonia and coughed really hard for 2 weeks. OUCH! I have yet to be able to get in even 40 oz of fluid a day, was sent home from the hospital not even capable of getting in 4 oz of fluids an hour.... I have not once been able to tolerate protein shakes post-op, had no issues pre-op. Thank you! I hope they have answers too! Have to do something, can't live like this...

Sorry, should have included in my OP the stuff I am going through.

What about the shakes can't you tolerate?  Have you tried different types of protein like soy, hemp, pea, or egg?

No matter how small the sip I take, I get pain like I have taken too big of a drink and then the pain lasts for a few minutes. I am trying soy tomorrow. Never heard of hemp or pea... I tend to be sensitive to eggs in general.

My bff is vegan, so I've gotten to learn about all the non-whey protein powder options :D  Hemp and pea are ones that she's used!  I think she likes the Vega brand.

I'm sure you've tried lots of stuff, but have you tried drinking with a straw?  That might help in some way?  (A number of people have better luck with straws, even though some surgeons say to avoid them.)
