It's been 4 months since my surgery and I just can't seem to eat, nothing taste good and smells make me sick.  I have tried to eat but it's like chewing cardboard...and so sick of protein drinks..

You will have to try a variety of dishes before you find the ones that you like.  It is a process we all go through, as our taste buds change.

At this stage you should be drinking about 1 protein shake a day and eating real food.  I think you need to speak with your nutritionist about this

unfortunately, npt eating is not really a choice. If your body doesn't get the protein it needs,it will start canibilizing itself and eating your muscles, heart, lungs, kidneys, etc to get the protein it. Needs. This is one of the ways anorexics dies, their body eats itself.

It is not about tasting good right now,or wanting to eat. It is about getting on with the job.

Still struggling to this level (your post makes it sound fairly severe) is not normal.  Like others on here, I suggest you contact your surgeon ASAP.  And they may want to do your 6-month labs early to make sure your vitamin/mineral/protein levels are in the normal range.

Good luck!

I have been back to the surgeon numerous times, had many blood draws and IV therapies, they are very concerned.  I have acid reflux really bad and nausea and have medicine for that.. They tell me I just have to push through this. I am never hungry and just smelling foods cooking make me sick.  I really wondered if anyone else had this problem.

It's so interesting to me how different our experiences can be.  I woke up from surgery hungry and still deal with it daily.  I call the sleeve my backup plan in case I lose my focus on healthy eating.  I hope you find a happy medium soon :)

Wow, I'm two months out and I couldn't imagine not eating or liking food. 5 out 7 days I can consume all my protein by eating food. The other two days I will fall back on a shake to meet my goal. Have you  tried eating things you didn't eat before surgery? My tastes have really changed and I now crave things that I didn't before. Start trying some new stuff and see if it sparks something good for you.
