I'm not a meat eater, but I love things that taste like meat. Even before surgery or prepping, I was really into soy beef crumbles. They're very high in protein. Morningstar makes great one (in my opinion, better than the Boca). So, I would put a little PAM in the pan, toss in about half a cup of the crumbles and then when it was cooked (looks and cooks just like real beef) I tossed in spaghetti squash already shredded and a little organic marinara sauce. It is delicious and filling and tastes a lot like a little italian meal. It was great to go home to after a day of liquids.
Our food phase plan allowed for soft foods starting on week 5. Your surgeon or nutritionist should provide you with a post op eating plan.
