Preparations for Surgery Day:  I totally cleaned out my refrigerator except for juice, fruit,H20, and protein shakes.  It took about two large trash bags to empty it out.  I cleaned my entire house and will burn all of my scented candles to have that lingering scent in my house.  I got my hair and nails (fingers and toes) done.  I washed all of my clothes and packed a suitcase.  I plan to have a good soak in the tub and off I go to surgery tomorrow morning.

What did you do or plan to do to prepare for surgery?

Definitely have a long soak in the tub. They told me today when being discharged from hospital no baths for amonth, only showers! I followed my pre-op liquid diet, purged foods and made sure I had my calendar cleared for a week post-op. Best wishes to you! :-)

I read everything I could get my hands on.  And that's about it.  My cat went blind a few days before surgery, so I spent a lot of time running all over the county to get her to various specialists.

My surgery is on Monday. I'm going shopping tomorrow to stock the liquids I'll need for the 2-week interval before I see my surgeon for post-op checkup. My bag will include my CPAP, lip moisturizer, shower necessities, slide-on slippers, underwear, PJ bottoms (don't want my butt hanging out for everyone to see), my Kindle, and my Chrome book. Also plan to do any laundry I have not yet done, so I don't have to worry about that for at least a week.

I'm getting pretty nervous, too, so meditation and reading are helping me to prepare emotionally for surgery. Good luck!

I totally overpacked. All I need was essential undergarments and personal items and clothes to go home in. I couldn't wear pants till discharge because I had a catheter. I was definitely not interested in internet even though I brought my ipad. Mostly used my phone and zoned out to the tv. I was pretty out of anyway. Good luck to you on Monday!!!

I wrote myself a very long email about how i feel right now. Ill have it forever to look back on. Then, i took before and after photos. I got new comfy clothes that matched so i felt better about being in pjs all day. I changed all my linens (well, my mom did!). I got nice smelling hand lotion. And I concentrated on breathing. the morning of surgery, all i did was breathe. I found if i focused on inhaling and exhaling, i didn't have to worry so much.

I overpacked too, brought my iPad. the pain drip really knocked me out, which was great.

Best of luck to you! Remember the process. If there's a painful moment or a mini win, write it down. You will appreciate it in the future. I'm 8 days out and already love that i have photos, emails, and notes from myself.
