Hi Everyone, I just wanted to give you an update on how things have been going since my Gastric Sleeve surgery in Mexico. I am now 8 months post-op and down 74lbs! I am feeling totally amazing and training for my first 5K. I haven't had any issues with my sleeve at all and would highly recommend this surgery to anyone! My co-workers now call me Skinny Minny which I find hilarious! My self-confidence has increased and I am now able to chase after my 4 year old daughter like never before. I have a new life with my new stomach. I wouldn't change it for anything.

I am hoping someone can help me, I am scheduled for a sleeve in Tijuana and will be flying from Ontario to San Diego.  My worry is mostly about the US customs when arriving in San Diego.  Should I letter from the doctor that is doing the surgery? Do they hear this all the time?? I am border line stressed about dealing with the US Customs when getting there. .. please help.

I had no trouble at all with customs. They are very used to this. All you need is your passport which you will need to fly anyway. Just have the name and number of your hotel as well as your driver with you. It was very simple and quick. They didn't ask me much. When I said I was there to go to Tijuana for surgery they said Ok and let me through. The hotel I stayed at (Marriott) told me they get over 100 people a week there for the surgery, mostly from the US and Canada. There is really nothing to worry about at all :)

@slormeno - I'm not sure what the requirements are but I have a lot of family from Mexico and they have to have a visa to enter the US.  Not sure if this is the same for Canada.  You may want to go to the US embassy in your area and check beforehand. I had my surgery in Mexico but I am from the US so I had no issues re-entering.
