Do you see them often? Do you never plan on telling them? You could just say you are having "stomach issues", which on some level is true.

If you're comfortable, you could always tell them. I'm guessing that since you haven't told them about surgery and are asking this question that you don't plan to? If that's the case, I would just say you're not feeling that hungry. This is something you want to think about though because social situations like this one will be happening a lot!

You could say you have an ulcer or something...but is there a reason you aren't telling them?  I didn't want to tell people at first, but I realized it was waaaaaaay harder trying to lie or skirt the issue than just being honest.  Good luck.

You could tell them that you've had WLS.  That would probably be the easiest.

I am not good at deception..:( I told everyone after surgery.  I am not sure why it would be a secret.

Do you plan on telling them? Why haven't you told them to this point? I get it, I wasn't comfortable telling people at first. Now I'm very comfortable sharing what I had done.

I found it a lot easier to tell everyone who asked that I had WLS.

The one exception to that is my mother in law who has some age related dementia/brain things going on.  I was afraid that my WLS would become a repetitive theme that she would feel compelled to chat about with everyone.  While I had decided to be open about my WLS, I didn't think I could stomach (hehe) listening to repetitive questions or have her compelled to tell anyone willing to listen about it. So, for her, I just said that I was eating less because I was trying to lose weight.  She is super observant but even she accepted that explanation.

Good luck, Shel

I do plan on telling them problem is they interrupt and don't listen. They also don't respect when I want to tell other family members things myself. So I was planning on telling them after my siblings.
