Three Months Out and Totally Worth It !!!!

I just had my three month visit and I am thrilled.  I have lost thirty-three pounds since my Sleeve 05/27/15. Combined with the fifty-three pounds I lost pre-op, I am down 86 pounds since my consultation 01/05/15 !!!  I started out with some complications and my blood work shows that I am no longer classified as malnourished...  all values are back in the normal range. I left the appointment and had my hair cut short and colored to celebrate !!

My sleeve experience has helped me:

1.  View eating food as a life sustaining necessity, not an activity.

2.  Prioritize/value dense protein and feel gratitude for feeling restriction.

3.  Love being physically active !!!

The best advice I can offer early on, especially after reading many posts here (FOLLOW YOUR OWN DOCTOR'S PLAN):

1.  Make getting in 64 + ounces of water a PRIORITY.  No excuses. Dehydration kills and insufficien****er slows/stops weight loss.

2.  Protein first is not an option.  Dense protein is a priority. Protein shakes, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese are all "easier" because there is not as much of a restriction.  I use these options when I have to, but I am grateful to feel the restriction that tells me my sleeve is doing its job.

3.  If your plan does not allow bread, crackers, rice, pasta, corn, raw vegetables, alcohol, etc.  DON'T eat them.  Your surgeon has a reason for the progression he/she has established for you.  Just because someone else is doing it doesn't mean it is what your team has determined you need.

4.  Take advantage of your pre-surgery time.  Practice the healthy habits that will sustain you for the rest of your life.  Purge the simple carbs and sugar from your diet. Your detox will be behind you and make post-surgery much easier.  Identify and begin to address any emotional attachments you may have with food.

Trust your sleeve.  Work your program. You'll be a success !!

Who's awesome? YOU'RE awesome!!

Love your advice too, btw. I realized yesterday that the exhaustion I've been feeling is due to not getting in my 64oz a day...I'm still working back up to that amount, but with the 14oz protein shake I had this morning (that counts as liquid, right?), I'm at almost 46 oz today, which may not seem like a lot, but it's MUCH better than I was doing earlier in the week. The last thing I want is to have to go to the hospital for an IV!
