Question for all you sleevers

So I had my surgery yesterday and I feel awful.  Constant nausea, pain is pretty bad.  Even sips of water make me nauseous.  When will I start to feel better?  They're talking about sending me home tomorrow and I can't even imagine feeling well enough to climb the stairs at home

The day after surgery was the worst for me and that is when I was sent home.  I got significantly better day 3 and progressively better each day after.  I had no nausea but each sip of liquid was painful.   I needed help to get out of bed but could walk once I was helped up.  I certainly wouldn't think to go up any stairs the first few days.

In an hour! And then an hour after that! It unfortunately takes time to heal up and just keep in mind that your body has been through a great ordeal. If I had any recomendations. Walk walk walk and nap nap nap. Those two thing resulted in me being back to work about 6 days post op. Until you body is rid of the gas which will take a few weeks there is little that you can do but wait. Just remember that it WILL get better :) Good luck!

You've just had major surgery, and feeling like crap is sadly kind of normal. I couldn't hold down water until a day and a half post-op!

Make sure your nurses are aware of your pain level and your nausea; they may need to adjust your medication. If they can tweak that, you may feel a bit better... but you've just had your guts rearranged and you're probably going to be sore, even on morphine.

Hang in there, it does get better! Just give your body time :)

I empathize with you. My first month post-op was tough, but oh so worth it. Try taking sips of warm broth or decaf herbal tea. I also found it hard to drink water, but it seemed so much easier to drink warmer liquids.

By day 2 I was still sore and having some nausea, but it was significantly better than day 1. Day 3 I was feeling almost normal.

I could not handle water for about a week. And then it had to be so cold it was icy. Try different Temps in the water to see what you tolerate better. Also my program allowed me to dilute light apple juice for the first week. I was told the sugar helped to settle to stomach. May want to ask your doctor. Good luck!
