Eating out is a little anxiety producing!

Texas Roadhouse for dinner tonight, which I've always liked.  Feels different now, I worry about what to order, does it have enough protein, too much sodium, too much fat, and on and on!  I got a cheeseburger with no bun, will probably get 2-3 meals out of it with a side of mashed potatoes.  Can't wait for my last diet advance in 8 days, I miss salad and real fruits and veggies!!

Not sure about your specific plan, but many people eat salad/fruits/veggies rarely, if at all, during their loss phase. Protein first and foremost, MAYBE a bite of veggies at the end once you've gotten everything in. And mashed potatoes are probably a "no" until maintenance for most folks as well.

My plan is similar Julie!  My nutritionist said I could have the mashed potatoes if I'd gotten my protein in, but I didn't have room for them.  And I known it'll have to be protein first, but even a couple blueberries will satisfy the craving I think!  It's so hard to get the protein in I can't do anything else right now if my plan allowed!

Take the worry out of what to order by going online and deciding before you go. Most restaurants have a menu online & if it's a chain, many have their nutritional info posted which is also available on other websites like mfp.

Totally this! I always now look at menus before I go, and I generally never ever peer at anything BUT the appetizers/soups and sides. That's it. Every time I go out to eat, I always have a game plan. It helps that so many places now have that information online. I then track it via my best estimate on similar items at chain restaurants or via ingredients.

I always make sure to go over the menu before I go out and decide what I'm going to order.  I wouldn't have ordered the potatoes, since they're not a part of my plan and ordering them would have just been a temptation.  Texas Roadhouse seems like an easy place to pick meals, I'd have gotten a nice, juicy steak! :D

I dread the eating out afterwards. My daughter plays competitive travel softball so we are on the road constantly. Any tips are greatly appreciated

I usually stick to the appetizer section - I had to eat at a Texas Roadhouse a month ago during an out of state trip, and they have a skewer of grilled shrimp for like $6 as one of their starters. I don't worry about sodium or fat, I try to pay attention to portion sizes and making sure that I don't get brought stuff that would be wasted, like bread or potatoes.

That's exactly what I do! When out to eat, my primary concern is no to carbs and yes to protein. I don't worry to much about sodium or fat.
