I am just starting to get on this site.  I am a 40yr old mom of 4 teen girls!!!!  My surgery is set 12/10/2015 and I am on my 2nd day of liquids only.  I think I may just be nervous or scared.  IDK....  I have been waiting over a year now and here I am...

Just looking for someone who can relate to my jitters and worries!!

Thanks!

Dear Momof4 It is natural to have doubts even after the surgery itself. I have to say that if you are a Mom of FOUR teen girls you are already BRAVE! Having the surgery will be a piece of cake...er protein! You can and will do this! And afterwards you will have more energy and clarity of thought to be fully be there with energy for your girls.

Hey there SkinnyBonz38,  I really appreciate your kind words...  My 4 girls are keeping my faith going.  I thought about this surgery 5 years ago, but then backed out.  I was not mentally prepared.  Now that I have been working on this (past year) and the date is almost here, I just want to run and hide or not.  LOL  I cant wait to be able to do so many things with them that I have been unable to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't wait to have the surgery.  The only thing I was worried about was something going wrong pre-op and being postponed or canceled.

Best of luck to you!  It'll be here before you know it. :)

It's normal to have fear... unknown, change, surgery, healing, we've been there (BTW it's as safe as most any surgery knee replacement, gallbladder removal, c-sections)... but I'm guessing you have some health issues as a result of your obesity? Obesity is the second leading cause of death in the US and related to the others on the list... that's something to fear ;) this is you heading that fate off at the pass.

Best wishes! Having weight loss surgery was the best gift I ever gave myself. Zero regrets.

It is so natural to have the jitters and be worried!  If you did not then I would be surprised.  I woke up from my surgery and thought what have I done to myself!!  That was over 12 1/2 years ago!  It is the best thing I have done for myself besides marrying my husband! It is OK to have the jitters it is normal!  Try to stay focused on all the positive things that will result from the surgery!  I started at 240 and have maintained my current weight of 133 for all these years!

You sound completely normal! We all have probably gone through the same jitters and worries! I remember someone asking me what I was afraid of and me answering I didn't know. Take your time and learn as much as you can on how your to take care of yourself after the surgery. Make your list of why you want to do this and the things you want to do in your future. This site is fantastic for getting information. I have gotten a lot of help and am sure I will need a lot more. It is not easy and you will get tired of little things but remember it will all get better and you will feel awesome when you can do the things you want to. Heck! I can do so much already and I am almost on my 7th wk. after surgery. Hang on tight! You got this!

I'm having the same jitters right now.  I start my pre-op liquid diet in two weeks, and I'm excited and terrified all at the same time.
