Do we have to take chewable vitamins forever? I am kind of over it. My prescription medications that I take I swallow fine. I know that a lot of you do the patch vitamins but my surgeon is opposed to that and I am trying to be compliant. So is there anyone out there who takes a regular vitamin that you swallow? If so how are you doing with that?

My surgeon allows regular vitamins at one month as long as you can get them down.  They also add calcium and other supplements at that point (none of which are chewable).  I'm sure your surgeon allows it at some point as well - have you asked explicitly?

On a related note, with all the added supplements (B12, Iron, D), I decided to get Bariatric Advantage Ultra vitamin, so I just have to take 3 of the same thing a day.

Same here. I couldn't stomach any chewable vitamins and got off them about a month post-op. My numbers have been great.

I have used regular vitamins, and other oral meds, since the first week. Some may have enough inflammation to make chewables or liquids the choice for a few weeks, but that's a YMMV type of thing. The only chewables I used was for calcium since those tend to be such horsepills and I already had a buckefull of Bariatric Advantage ones that i had bought, though there are half-dose petite pills available for that as an alternative.

The only reason for using chewables for any length of time once the inflammation goes down is to prevent the pills from getting stuck in the stoma of bypass patients, which of course, we don't have.

I've taken regular vitamins since day 1 because I think chewables are disgusting. At first, I just split the vitamins into several pieces and swallowed each one separately. Now I take all of my pills in regular form and throw back the whole handful at once.

As long as they don't cause discomfort, you can take regular vitamins any time.

I took regular vitamins since day 1.  If you are already taking other  pills with no problem, there's no reason you can't take pill vitamins too.  Just do it slowly, one at a time, and take your time.

I don't even take a multivitamin.  I don't need them.  My diet is stellar.  My labs are perfect.
