The Road So Far...

I was banded in 2009.  Kept over 80% of my weight off for almost six years.  Had daily heartburn and reflux so I had some fluid out and started gaining weight back.  I decided to start looking into the sleeve and found out it was covered under my current insurance with six-month supervised diet.  I'm done with the diet and all of the pre-op checkups with Tampa General Hospital and now have a surgery date set for June 7th.  I cannot wait!  When I was banded I only had to wait two weeks from the time I called the clini****il the time I was banded.  This journey has been more like 8 months and it's taken all of my patience to jump through every hoop. However, I'm nearing the end of this phase and I am excited for the next phase to begin!  I'll probably be dropping in here more and more as my date gets closer so that I can tap into the wisdom of those who've followed.

Good luck with your upcoming surgery

If you have daily GERD, I'm surprised that your surgeon will revise to a VSG.  Usually it's contraindicated when GERD exists prior to surgery.   What made you choose the VSG over the RNY?
