"only" lost 12 pounds in a week? How fast were you expecting to lose? That is fantastic!

And yes, stalls are perfectly normal, particularly so close to surgery when your body is still recovering from such trauma. Maybe stay off the scale for a while if it stresses you out. Focus on eating properly and following your plan and all will be well.

12 pounds in 2.5 weeks is exceptional.  Its better than I did in my first few weeks, and I lost 225 pounds in about 18 months.

I've seen this so often.  There are a few people who lose a remarkable amount in the first few weeks.  Others read it and set their expectations too high.  If you lose 12 pounds in a month for 6 months,  you will be down 72 pounds.  If you lose 8 pounds a month for the next 6 months, you'd be down 120 pounds in a year - that's phenomenal weight loss.

try to keep the long term perspective.  When you look at calories burned vs food eaten, you will realize that 2 or 3 pounds per week is about all you can expect to lose at first, and it will slow over time.  But that's plenty to get you to goal in a reasonable time.

Is it really important how fast you get to goal?  If every month you weigh less, and are healthier and have more energy, does it matter if you reach goal in 6 months, or a year or 18 months?

I hope you can take joy in how well you are doing, and keep your eye on the long-term goals.

best wishes,

Carol

Look at what you have lost!! YOU HAVE LOST!

Continue following the plan that your doctor has laid out for you. Make sure you are consuming your 64 ounces of water day! Walking is great too! Chill and stay away from the scale for a week or two. Pay attention to your body, how your clothes feel and how you feel. You will see great results! I promise!

I would of loooved to of lost 12 pounds my first week. lol I lost a total of 16 pounds my first TWO MONTHS! So yeah...I too feel like I'm never going to lose weight. I stick to plan and exercise and do everything I am supposed to do and the weight will come off....slowly but surely. Hang in there...6 months from now we will tell ourselves we worried for nothing.

I'm 3.5 weeks out, and I've lost 19 lbs.  I'm thrilled with this, and the last week was much slower than the 2nd week! Its ok. Try to change your perspective - think about total lost since the start including pre op, celebrate the success you've had.  Project into the future if you loose 12 lbs a month how fast you will loose - in 6 months that is 75 pounds!

This is a great loss.  Be happy with your success.  Be patient.  Commit to doing the things you need to do, water protein etc.  Practice some positive self talk "I'm so happy I've lost more in the last week then I've ever lost in a single week."  "I'm so pleased to be on the path to a healthier body"  "I'm prod of myself for making this decision"  "I'm doing a good job"

Also take your measurements as another way to track progress.  Also, some people do great weighing daily some do better weighing weekly.  If you are driving yourself crazy with daily weighins, maybe think about weighing weekly for the next 4 weeks and see how that goes, instead focus on all of the good choices you are making, and feeling good about the good choices.

Good luck,

Tara
