I have looked up and used many online recipes, just looking for a favorite that anyone is willing to share. I am running out of ideas! Thanks, Mike

I do simple things

meat+ fat+a jar of salsa. Tun it on - walk away...I shred the meat after. You can  drain some of the liquids - for dense meal. taco seasoning optional. lean cuts of meat - I add fat.. but more fatty meats - I just let it be.

works well with chicken. beef or pork..

My family loves this and its so easy!  Pork is my favorite.  And, its worth noting, you can do this with frozen pork too - it just takes longer, which works well for me if I'm doing it during a work day.

I make "crock au vin" when I'm feeling fancy. Takes a bit of prep work, but totally worth it.

  • Brown about half a package of bacon until it's crispy. Crumble the bacon and add to the crockpot.

  • Add some butter to the bacon grease and use that to brown some mushrooms. Dump those in the crockpot.

  • Brown some chicken-- I like boneless thighs. Add more butter if you need to, as well as salt and pepper. Add it to the crockpot.

  • Other crockpot additions: frozen pearl onions, 1T tomato paste, a carton of chicken stock, herbs de province (get it premixed or or a combo of bay, garlic, and thyme), and about 2 cups of cheap red wine.

Let it simmer on low for 8+ hours.

This stuff is MAGICAL. It's my go-to "fancy dinner" recipe. I just eat the chicken, but it's killer over mashed potatoes with butter and cream for the non-WLSers.
