Hello,

I work at a hospital as a Registered MRI Technologist. I lift and move over 200 lbs every shift with the help of an aid.

My question is when did most of you with physical jobs return to work after a

Gastric sleeve surgery?

This is a question for your surgeon but I think most of us had a lifting restriction of no more than 10 lbs. for about 6 weeks.

Definitely a question for your surgeon but I can tell you that if you were a patient of my surgeon, he would not release you to return to work for a minimum of 6 weeks, probably more like 8.

No more than 10 lbs for six weeks. I'm an OR nurse and there's no such thing as "light duty" at my job, so I'm out for six weeks.

Yeah, it's going to take a couple of months before you should be lifting 10 lbs let alone 200 lbs.  You want to start planning to have assistance for a while or you can pop a hernia.

Thanks for all the answers. Yes, I do have an aid. We do use slide boards. Just two ladies moving all patients at night.
