Hello everyone I am new to OH, I had my VSG surgery on AUgust 11, 2016 (I am almost 6 weeks out) and I have hit a stall that has last for 3 weeks. I am scared and want to know if this is normal. I lose a lb then gain it back the next day. literally my scale has been up and down. I havent been able to get out of the 240s which stresses me out.

I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this so early on to their journey like me.

Thank you!

Michelle

It happens to just about everyone. My stall started the second week after surgery and lasted 22 days. Don't panic, the scale will move again. Take measurements because you will continue to lose inches. Put your scale away for a couple of weeks. Also, there is a search function top right...search "3 week stall".

This is normal. Search "three week stall" and the majority of people deal with it.

Hang in there, keep doing what you should be (protein, water, etc.), and you'll get where you want to be, slowly but surely.

This is the first of what will very likely be several stalls on your way down the weight-loss slope (too bad it isn't a "slippery slope"). If you're sticking to the right foods in the right amounts and eating them in the right order, you are losing fat, no matter what that temperamental scale is telling you. Lock it in a closet for a few weeks and gauge your progress by taking measurements or by periodically trying on something that fits snugly. You will almost certainly see and feel a difference in short order.

Its totally normal.  Its called the dreaded three-week stall.  it sounds like you were right on schedule.  It often lasts 2 or 3 weeks.  You should see movement again soon.

best wishes,

Carol

From my reading, it appears that these "stalls" are necessary so your body can adjust to the weight loss. Often measurements decrease during the stall even if weight doesn't.  I decided to only weigh once a month from the beginning so these stalls wouldn't make me crazy.

Hi there

I wrote a post very similar to this one. My 1st stall lasted about 3 weeks. Very frustrating, but very normal. Put the scale away, concentrate on getting your protein in and walk as much as you can. I promise the weight loss will start again.

Hang in there!
