People are starting to notice...!

Yesterday was 28 days after surgery, and two people made comments on my appearance. The first was a coworker who I see only a few times each month: she commented "You look Goood!!" with the up and down look. HahaHaha- she is someone that I am comfortable with, so it was not inappropriate.

The second person was our receptionist, who straight out asked if I'd been losing weight. I said yes, and that I'd been working on it for a while. She asked for tips / what was working for me, so I said no snacks, no booze, no junk food, etc...

Yea! I'm 32 pounds down from my top weight, and 17 since surgery. I'm in a stall, so this cheered me up!

That is so great to hear compliments like that. Keep up the eating healthy...you will be back to losing it in no time.

Sending much love,

It might have been kind for you to also tell her that surgery was helping - considering you needed more than "no snacks, no booze, no junk food, etc..."

It's weird - I feel like I always get the most comments about my appearance when I haven't lost any weight for a few weeks :P

Right? My hairstylist is the worst with that. I see her just about every six weeks or so and she's always, "Girl, you're getting thinner!" and I'm like, "Nope, been this weight for a while!"

I'm not ready to share the fact that I've had surgery with coworkers yet. If it were a close friend or I'd lost half my weight...

Lots of other factors. I've only known her 3-4 months, this place is Gossip Central, etc. She's also not that large.

Just be aware that a) people will likely be angry when they find you've lied to them and b) they're going to gossip whether they're gossiping about the truth or not.

I've thought it through. I don't owe personal medical details to people I barely know. I'll deal with gossip when it happens.

There's more you don't know- trust me, it was not time/place/person to tell.

There's a difference between not sharing personal medical details with people you barely know and actually lying, and there's a way to do the former without doing the latter. Regardless, I hope it works out well for you.

I told two friends and my husband about my WLS before hand. One of my friends hasn't spoken to me since but, to her credit, didn't gossip about it either. It's not some big shameful secret. I am an administrator at the hospital where my bariatric surgeons, PCP and husbands offices are. So, of course, I know that people know.

I did end up telling my assistant because it was around Christmas and she kept bringing me homemade baked goods and Starbucks to wash them down with. Other than that I don't plan on telling anyone. Don't plan on discussing my future plastic surgery either. I

I respect that other people handle this differently but feel no need or obligation to help "save" other obese people.
