Will I be able to wear my bra immediately after surgery? Will it matter if it's an underwire?

I can and I will

They put bandaids on my incisions and there was only one that was under the bra area I wore an underwire bra home without issues, but did consider it might have been a good idea to have gotten a softer option.

Depends on where your incisions are. I have 4 evenly spaced along my waistline and one up a few inches from that. It's nowhere near my bra line, so no problem with that for me.

Wore my regular underwire bra home the day after surgery. I wore a loose dress home because I didn't want to deal with a waistband right after surgery.

I think it will totally depend on placement of the incisions and seems like that varies (also varies in number). might be a good question to ask your surgeon as far as how many incisions you'll have and where they will be. I had 5 total and one was right on my bra line so an underwire would have been very uncomfortable rubbing against it. I wore a leisure bra home from the hospital and honestly didn't wear a bra the first few days home. I also lived in maxi dresses the first two weeks just for the comfort factor of not having a waistband.

None of my incisions were at my bra line, so I had no problems with this. But I know that other people have had a different experience! You could probably ask your surgeon where your incisions will be and ask if they can avoid your bra line?

I have one incision right on my bra line in the middle. Surgery was Monday and I haven't worn a bra since. When I leave the house tomorrow I'll probably lock it down with a very soft wire free bra that I picked up at Target.

I had one incision in the middle of my abdomen about an inch below my bra band, so my bra rubbed on the plastic tape that was glued to my sutures.

It would probably be smart to get a comfortable sports bra to wear after surgery, just in case.

I went home braless. I stayed braless the two weeks I stayed at home. I did wear a bra to go out in public. My incisions were located mostly within the surrounding 2 inches of my belly button. A bra wouldn't have rubbed my incisions but I just wanted to be comfortable.

I had an incision on my bra line. I didn't know it would be there, but I did know I would be sore etc, so I purchased a leisure bra that hooked in the front. It was easy to put on, no wires. I put extra padded guaze on that incision on my bra line and wore bras after about a week.
