May sleevers progress?

I was sleeved May 4 and it has been three weeks. I am only down 5 lbs from my surgery day. It took a while to lose all the weight from fluids! But I wish I was losing faster. I am staying with the program and getting ~600 calories a day with 60 grams of protein, and drinking my 64 ounces. But it is frustrating to not see the scale move the way I want, and I actually went from 203 to 204 in the last few days, maybe due to salt. Anyway, looking to see how other May people are doing so we can collectively encourage each other on our efforts.

Try to resist the urge to compare, as it can actually be counterproductive to your journey. For example, a person who needs to lose an excess weight of 300 pounds loses 30 pounds in the first month- impressive, right? A person who needs to lose 100 pounds loses 15 pounds. Thing is, the llghtweight person lost 15% of the excess weight, and the 300 pound person lost 10%- so who did better? It just is not an apples to apples type comparison.

Additionally, you are just smack in the middle potentially of the "3 week stall". Search it- super common. When folks first get home from the hospital they are fluid ridden, masking weight loss. Then the 3 week mark your body just doesn't show progress on the scale. It has been through a lot though. I would gently suggest to measure yourself right now. It is very common for people to lose inches when the scale is not showing loss. It will help you to keep your brain straight.

Lastly, some of us are "stair step" losers. In my case, I could go 2-3 weeks without losing an ounce, and then within a 2 day period lose 10 pounds. Then nothing for weeks, then another big loss in 2-3 days. Some of us just roll that way.

Follow your plan. The cumulative loss is what does it for us- not a single month with stellar stats. Look at my ticker- most of the months are not numbers that cannot be achieved without surgery. The difference is how much easier (relatively) it is to stay on plan and keep it off. You got this!!

Sounds like you are doing what you need to do. I had surgery on the 16th and was up about 3 pounds when I got home...I about died but dropped it quickly. Since surgery I'm down about 13. I agree with the other comment to try not to compare but 5 pounds does seem low. We're all your labs ok? Thyroid?

I am just about one week post op. Down 5 lbs so far. It's a marathon not a sprint.

Doyenne, as I pointed out to you in your other post, you have not lost just 5 pounds since surgery. You said you were actually 218 after surgery due to the fluid buildup. Losing that weight counts as well, so you have actually lost 14 pounds since surgery. That is great for 3 weeks. As I also said before, many people take more than a week just to lose back that fluid buildup.

If you hadn't actually started out at 218 after surgery, then I could definitely understand being frustrated. But you DID, and you've lost 14 pounds in 3 weeks. Be happy for that, and prepare for the fact that you, indeed, may now be hitting the 3-week stall.

My 3-week stall period lasted nearly 5 weeks. I lost a total of 8 pounds during that time. But once my system adjusted and I started losing again, it fell off.

Try to be patient. Stop weighing yourself every day. Take your measurements and you'll be surprised at the inches you lose even if the scale doesn't move.

Actually there is allot more going on than just your fluid intake right after surgery ... there is swelling from the healing process too. The surgery itself will cause you to gain weight. And I heard others mention a stall is common early on (probably due to the surgery itself and the healing process in my opinion) Don't stress about it. Stay on plan ... oh and get a good nights sleep too ... you'd be surprised how much that helps.
