Question for the ladies

Ok ladies. Up until surgery, my period was regular. It came once a month and lasted less than 5 days. I'm 6 weeks post op now and have my period for the second time this month. My last one ended 2 weeks ago. This happen to anyone else? If so, please tell me this won't be a regular thing? My hormones are monstrous.

Mine have changed but are not as frequent. I have only had 1 since my surgery over 2 months ago. Before surgery I was like clockwork.

Remember you're experiencing hormone dumping with such rapid weight loss. My guess is that things will normalize after a few months.

I'm having similar situation. On the pill & still getting period-too often, & too longI'm assuming it's the hormone change from surgery, &/or gallbladder meds that say they can interfere with birth control. Going to call gyno next week.

I was told the pill isn't as effective after surgery so was switched to the Nuvaring my periods have been normal since surgery.

Did they tell you why it's ineffective after surgery? My surgeon did not tell me this. But, gallbladder med lists that may cause bc pill to be less effective.

Many people experience a "hormone dump" after surgery. Estrogen is stored in fat cells, so when you lose a lot of weight, those hormones go flooding into your system. That can cause all sorts of trouble with your cycle.

The good news is that it gets back to normal as your weight loss slows, which is usually by the second month or so. I spotted nonstop for over a month, then things got back to normal by the 2 month mark.

That is good news! If it doesn't go back to normal I'll let my doctor know.

My cycle was crazy for about 6 months (super heavy, long, and frequent), then it went back to normal.
