There are several folks on here who have had conversions, but weekends are on the slow side. Hopefully a few will connect with you tomorrow! I just wanted to welcome you. If you have any questions about the sleeve, fire away!

Can I ask why you are converting to the sleeve?

Please don't get me wrong I think the sleeve is a great surgery and has helped so many lose weight and keep it off. My concern is that you currently have a band which is what I also had. Due to severe reflux/heartburn from the band the sleeve was not an option for me so I had the bypass.

Over the last couple of years I have noticed folks who went from band to sleeve ended up with GERD/heartburn/reflux so bad that they had to have a third WLS to the bypass. Not all of them, but enough that I wanted you to be aware of that possibility.

Best of luck to you. You will feel see much better once the band it out.

Thank you for your response.. The Bypass was not an option for me. I am not really sure why but it wasn't. I am so glad the band is out.

I would have wanted to know why the bypass the not an option. Because I had developed heartburn/reflux with the band my surgeon told me that getting the sleeve was a no go and that I would have most likely ended up with worse acid issues. I really hope the sleeve does not cause you issues.

hi,

I had band to sleeve revision 8 weeks ago. I'm thrilled. It's so much better than the band. I'm down almost 20 pounds. No GERD issues. Surgery was no big deal just one more incision to remove band. I'm so glad I did this. I hated the band! You will do great. My surgeon has done many of these revision surgery successfully with great results.

Good luck!

Carol

Carol,

Thank you so much. I am so glad you are doing well. I feel hungry but I'm sure that's all in my head.

Good luck on ur decision! I would echo the poster who noted the higher risk for GERD as a revision. I discounted this risk as I only had one instance of acid reflux when my babd was too tight. But I now have very severe acid reflux with sleeve and trying different meds before considering another surgery.
