Medicaid providers

Hello everyone,

my husband has been trying to get the gastric sleeve surgery. I've been super supportive and he cannot find a surgeon anywhere here in Louisiana that will accept his medicaid. We have called just about every place that does this surgery and he has just about given up because everyone has said no. Does anyone have any ideas which doctors take the Louisiana Healthcare Connections medicaid here? I cant see him give up because he has been trying his hardest.

It's hard to find surgeons in your state that takes Medicaid. Here are the 3 we know of, but please call to verify as they change daily.

They take all Medicaid but "Amerihealth Caritas

I just called Tulane and Was told if you don't live in the New Orleans parish that can't help you. Then she told me the list is closed for Medicaid patients. I'm in the same boat, the state just doesn't pay enough for the surgery. I would think they would want to pay for it so that many of us can get healthier, jobs and get off medicaid. Tell him don't give up.

Hi Elena,

Here is the latest list I have. I do know Dr. O'Connell is taking Medicaid (see list below) but it's hard to reach their office. Try calling Monika Tues and Weds mornings as others have shared with me that is when they were able to reach her and get an appointment. Stay strong and don't give up. I have worked with some from LA for 6 months to a year and when I get the feedback I have an appointment and a date for surgery we do the Happy Dance!
