Foods you can no longer eat

Is anyone missing foods that, while healthy, you can no longer "stomach" since your surgery. I miss eggs! I loved either lightly fried, poached or hard boiled eggs. I can no longer stomach one! Just turns my tummy right away! Also, miss salad. Used to have salad with chicken 3-4 nights a week, but since I'm only 3 months post-op, no way.

Nope, I can pretty much stomach all the foods I should be eating. Occasionally I'll have something with egg that's been cooked too much and it's very dry and that sometimes ends up coming back up.

My surgeon said that even though eggs are on the soft foods list, many of her patients can't tolerate it until after they can tolerate chicken. She's not sure exactly why, but early on I couldn't tolerate eggs, but by the time I was released to a full diet, I could.

Now at 18 months out, the only thing that consistently is rejected by my sleeve is something I shouldn't be having anyway (milkshakes).

Early on, I could not eat fish - go figure! It just sat so uncomfortably in my stomach - and for about 1-2 years, refined sugar went right through me. Unfortunately, that has passed, no pun intended.

Now the only thing i have trouble with is heavy foods, like pasta or bread, or rice, which isn't a bad thing.

I had trouble with eggs at first, they made me quite sick. I tried again at the 6-month point and they sat much better.

Salad is great, but I doubt very few of us miss plain lettuce. What we REALLY miss are the thousands of calories worth of dressing, cheese, croutons, and other toppings!

No, I miss the taste of the spring greens. I never ate salad dressings until I was about 40. My mom never served dressing unless there was company. Our salads usually had sosome type of canned fruit or veggie, which added moisture.

The only thing that has given me any trouble is the #1 thing we shouldn't be having anyway ... soda. Just having one swallow will make me nauseous. Even the zero calorie carbonated water does it.

If you fall down you just have to get back up.

I'm 4 years post-op and there are only two things that make my stomach unhappy. One is whole chicken breast - if it's cooked in pieces, it's fine, but eating chicken breast that's been cooked whole normally isn't great for my stomach. It's just too dense and sits in my stomach like a brick. The other is falafel. No idea why. I should try it again since I haven't in about 2 years now.
