Pain a week out

I am having severe pain in my right abdomen around the insicion that the stomach came out of. The pain is not controlled with hydrocodone/tylenol. When I sit straight it's not painful. But if I bend, walk, lean forward, try to turn over while lying down, lay down at wrong angle, or try to pick something up off the floor It's very painful.

HAS ANYONE experienced this kind of pain? Also, this area had just stopped hurting like a week before surgery. I had gb removal 12-1 & it had been sore since, but this is major pain that jolts me awake all thru the night.

This may be where the instruments went in and out of your stomach - and they had to cut through muscle. I found a post-maternity belt to be very helpful and provide support for about 5 weeks- my pain lasted that long in the one spot.

Yes. She sewed a muscle together right there for a second time. First time dec 1,2017 after gb removal. She told me exactly what u said use a maternity or after maternity type trhing called a mother tucker. Just so happens this muscle had just healed a week before WLS & she had to sew again. Yep, major surgery what did I expect. But Now i knw its a stitch i can at least rest my worries

You had major surgery! If you are really concerned, give your surgeon a call and have it checked out. But pain for a couple of weeks after surgery, especially bending, picking things off the floor, etc, is very normal.

If your pain isn't being controlled by your medication, please contact your surgeon.

I had this! The pain started up again after it started hurting, and it was ridiculously sore. My surgeon recommended using a heating pad on it, and that helped quite a bit.

If you're still in pain, definitely call your surgeon. Worst case, they say "no that's normal, keep resting," and if something is off they'll know and be able to help.

I had a lot of "big incision" pain post surgery. It would come on suddenly and very sharply several times a day. There was a lot of regret and thinking "something is very wrong". To help, I did a pressure application when it was bad and heating pad application, in addition to taking it slow. It seemed to flare up more when I did more physical activity. The doctor said it was OK, likely the dissolving stitching causing issues. In the back of my head I was skeptical, but like he said, between 6-7 weeks post surgery it just went away.

This sounded like me! Was better when I got out of the hospital and then about a week out, the pain made me miserable. However, I was able to do it without pain meds, usually adjusting my posture helped. Also, I found if I took an hour to lay down, it really helped. Hope you are feeling better!

Thank you. I feel great when I'm not bending or laying. The hard part is bed time might jus sleep in recliner for awhile
