On Pre-Op diet NOW

I can't believe that my surgery is just 11 days away. Back in November, it seemed like a lifetime away.

I'm on day 3 of my pre-op diet, and it's really very tolerable. Now anyway. I took a couple of trial runs (one week each time) during my 6 month medically supervised diet, so I know what to expect. My plan also isn't as restrictive as some...I get one small meal a day (4 oz protein, up to 4 cups of veggies), along with protein shakes, miso soup, broth, jello, sugar-free popsicles.

No beef or pork allowed...two of my favorite proteins. BUT I can have buffalo. I order free-range buffalo from SD and it is SO good. A little spendy, but when you only eat 4 oz at a time, it's do-able.

I'm making buffalo bone broth now. Can't WAIT til it's done and I can try it. I make it in my Instant Pot, let it cook for about 5-6 hours. Works just as good or better as putting it in a slow-cooker for 48 hours.

Now I need to go through all my clothes, sort them by size, and get rid of the stuff I'll never wear again. I'm a clothes-hoarder so that's no small task. One of my major goals it to be able to wear EVERYTHING in my closet and drawers.
Oh my God, I can't believe that I'm getting my sleeve in 11 days!

Wow! you are days away, I am happy for you! I saw my surgeon Friday and my tentative date is set for June 18th and I asked him about the pre-op diet and I do not have one! Just continue on as I have been, which is carbs 40 - 60 g no less than 30 g and Protein 80 - 100 g no less than 60 g and then one protein drink to replace a meal a day that's pretty much been it, oh and they added juice from 1/2 lemon in 4 oz. warm/ho****er first thing each morning. I was shocked I've heard so much about the pre-op being so hard to adjust to although your's sounds pretty easy too.

Good luck with the clothes, it is so hard to part with things once you have gotten into the habit of hoarding them lol. Can't wait to hear how your surgery goes, wishing you the best with it!

Your pre-op diet sounds like a breeze! Do you know why buffalo is allowed, but not beef or pork? That seems rather arbitrary.

Good luck with the clothes thing. I didn't have any smaller clothes when I started losing weight since I'd been where I was for so long, I'd gotten rid of everything. Hopefully you'll save money by not needing to buy clothes for a while!

Buffalo is considered game meat, which is allowed. It's very lean...unlike pork and beef. I could also have venison, elk, etc. I may have to go raid a hunter friend's freezer. HAHA

The buffalo bone broth turned out SO good!

I'm curious about how buffalo meat tastes. I've never had it. That thought aside, YAHOO! You've been posting for awhile and I've been waiting to see when this time came! I didn't struggle with the diet and like you mine was more relaxed than others. However, I didn't get to be on the true pre-op diet. I got sick the last week or so and could only have broth and water, or it would all come back up.

So happy to see your journey starting!

Thank you! I was only a few pounds less at my highest as you were at yours. Probably one good binge. LOL

I am SO looking forward to being the success that you are!

Edit: OMG, I just looked at your ticker a little closer. You have LOST over 300 lbs?!?!

I bow before you!

Lol thank you! It's been a process, and a hard one at that, but one I'd never trade for the world. You'll feel the same way!

Congratulations! I know what you mean about how far off it seems but then the countdown starts for the actual day. My pre-op was similar to yours. One low-cal meal at night, a mozzarella stick for one snack and protein shakes otherwise. I found it fairly manageable.

You sound really prepared - best of luck in 10 days!
