Stall

So 9 weeks post-op and have not lost a pound in 2 weeks in fact gained 2. Extremely frustrating as I am only consuming between 500-700 calories a day. Walking more than usual as well. One strange think (sorry if TMI) but I did not get my period this month...week late. I am 50 but have been extremely regular for years -28 days exactly. Any thoughts or suggestions to jump start loss? Surgery was 6/28 and only lost 24 lbs. seems like a small amount compared to others.

Surgery 6-25 and stalled! Sort of broke it after 2-weeks or so I thought but nope I am stuck and have no idea why, although I have been dealing with some other very invasive medical procedures... I hear it will drop all of a sudden so hopefully it will sooner than later. maybe someone else will have more to say that have been in stalls and beyond them! As for the period issue, you could be starting menopause? My sister is dealing with it now at your age. BUT I have no idea I had surgical menopause at 32! Sorry, again hopefully someone will jump in here?

You're going to hit periodic stalls throughout your weight loss, they just happen. Keep on plan and make sure you're getting in all your fluids and protein, and the weight will start going down again. Depending on your starting weight, etc, you may just lose slower than some. Everyone loses at a different rate, and 24 pounds in 8 weeks is great, that's a 3 lb per week average. Slow and steady wins the race, remember?

From what I've read, sometimes the number on the scale stalls but your body continues to get smaller in size. You might notice differences if you start taking measurements, or regularly try on an old too-small outfit.

The social worker at my center said that stalls and occasional gains of a couple pounds are normal, and not to let the scale drive us crazy. I think if you're sticking to your plan and getting your fluids and protein in, there's not much you can do except ride it out. It'll start dropping again any time now.

I've also read that our periods can get out of whack for several months post-surgery. It's the stress of the surgery, plus all the hormonal changes that come with it and the weight loss.
