Topic: RE: Feel like I am taking too much in??
I am on full liquids.  I don't eat anything that doesn't have protein in it and recommended by my nut during the full liquid phase.  Today when I was tracking I was just really surprised how much all of it added up to.  I don't mind cutting back at all, I am just not sure if I should?  I would very much like to switch my shakes from being blended with soy back to being blended with water.  They are too thick with the soy base, and that would also drop a lot of carb.  Yesterday though I was at 300 calories and was getting headaches.  The nut warned of this and said to use shakes for some of the meals.  I just don't want to overdue it.

I am not sure yet what full feels like.  Up through yesterday I never tried to take in more than 1-2 ounces for a meal.  Today was different in that I did one shake at a sitting, but it took nearly an hour and a half to get it down.  Even today I didn;t feel like it was strecthing, or close to vomiting, or uncomfotable in anyway- just gurgly and gassy all day and yesterday.  That is normal though from what I read.

My sugery was Monday, and I have been blessed with an easy recovery.  Today I ended up with 603 calories, 66 grams protein, and 73 grams of carbs.  It seems like too much?  I am wondering if I should drop the soy milk in the shakes?  I can't tell in my guidelines if it is required or just suggested as a way to get to 40 grams of protein.  40 grams is super easy for me to get too.  I am not hungry so I don't feel I have to take in the cals and carbs either.  I have never felt like I ate too much, but do a get a little gurgly when I eat.  tWhat do ya'll think?

Topic: RE: 3 weeks out need advice!
I have not lost a pound since surgery, but I am not stressing about it.  I have a prior history of showing no weight loss, and then once the next menstruel cycle finishes I am down 10 or 15 pounds.  I don't think that it will be identical, but I am 100% confident I am following the program and that at some point the weight loss will kick in.  I too read about everybody's stall at 2 or 3 weeks and I am expecting it.  I think the one advantage to being on a specific diet for the first 6 weeks it takes pressure off of me to lose the weight- just do what I am told.  Easier for me to think about it that way!

I have the bariatric advantage brand multivitamin and calcium citrate- both chewable.  I was told by the nut that centrum chewable is an adequate replacement.  My schedule is one multi in the morning, 1 calcium with a snack (at least 2 hours after the multi).  Another multi with dinner, 2 hours later another calcium.  1 iron supplement per day.    Centrum has the iron so you do not need it with that.  I have the costco version of centrum and will switch to that once I can handle swallowing pills a bit better.  For now, I appreciate having chewable vitamins.

Topic: RE: Maybe I can't do this...
I started a liquid diet a few months before I needed to, and did it perfectly for two weeks.  I also ended up retaining a ton of water and passing blood in the urine.  I stopped, and fairly normal amounts for the next two weeks, and found out at the doctor's i did not lose one friggin' pound.  Of course I had a load of water weight still.  The next month I tried to do a lower fat approach and started exercising.  It helped, and I took off a few pounds.  The following month and  a half I combined lower fat with occasional shakes and the weight came off faster.  The final two weeks before surgery I reverted back to the 3 shakes and one light meal and tripped up twice- once a pretty major mistake as I went to 5 guys with the hubby.  I frankly was worried that maybe I didn't have what it takes.  A poster here pointed out the enabling husband, another poster pointed out idetnifying the patterns now to prepare for adjustments post op, and I listenend carefully.  I am now a few days out of surgery and having no difficulty at all with cravings or eating inappropriately.  I did feel confident that I would follow the post surgery diet to a T, as i have no interest in killing myself because I snuck a cookie or something.  I had no idea that it was going to be this easy for the first few days :) I am satisfied with the 40 grams of protein, and feel like jumping up to the 80 mark in just over a week will not be a problem either.  I get all of the liquids in, but I do have to monitor that very carefully, as I realized once journaling that I was overestimating liquids.  I also decided to start with the support groups in January and heading back to the psychologist that screened me as another layer of suppport.  I figure if a couple of kind and honest posters could help as much as they did with the advice, that the professionals may be able to help even more :)

Thank you everybody!  I am allowed to swallow pills, I am just afraid to do that one.  My allergy meds and D3 are much smaller, and they get a little stuck :(   Maybe I will try skipping it tomorrow, as it is a good point that I can just add it back in if needed.

 Hi,

My sugery was Monday the 19th and overall feeling fine.  My question is that since the hernia was repaired I have had zero issues with acid reflux- I swear the surgery was worth it for this alone!  If you don't have acid issues, do I still need the acid reducer?  That is one bitter pill when ground up...

Darn near hurled first day home from surgery- I had crushed all of my meds into one nasty heap of powder.  Won't ever do that again!  For the meds that still make me want to hurl I grind it up and sprinkle it on a small amount of Fage greek yogurt with a splach of sugar free vanilla syrup.   No problem getting it down that way.

Congratulations!  Awesome job on the protein!  I hit 43 grams already today so I am done tracking that for now.  Next up, finish off 24 more ounces of fluid.

For the record, it makes me sick that Americans have to cross the border in order to find reasonably priced healthcare.  I am blessed with excellent insurance, but we are losing ground rapidly in my state.  That was the final motivating piece that got me going on this, as by October of next year I don't know if my insurance would cover it!
