Uh getting rid of size 28 tall right now... wi**** would have worked for you!  I am going to have this issue too, and consignment stores will be a hard find as I am over 6 feet tall.  Believe it or not it was easier for me to find tall super fat chick clothes then tall kinda fat chick clothes.  I know since my earlier years women have gotten taller and stores more generous with the definition of tall, so maybe it won't be so hard?  Back in the day JCPenny had tall and ultra tall- ultra tall was a couple inches short for me :(

So I am a person who does not throw out clothes that I hope to lose enough weight one day to get back into.  I am not proud of this, but for one it is really going to help!  I just went through and nixed all of the clothes I wore up until school got out Friday.  The next size down is snug, but doable in case I don't lose much or swelling is an issue over the next two weeks.  But I LOVE that I am getting rid of so many clothes!

Can anyone give me a rough idea of what to expect as far as dropping sizes?  I have enough for two size drops, but not sure it that will hold me over until Spring?

Carmex and gas strips.  I read on old posts that due to struggling with fluids the lips will chap and the carmex will help with that.  Gas strips by some posters say that the gas pain of the first few days will be helped- check with your doctor before either.  I will need to check once in the hospital.  I am not going to overpack.  Or so I say...  I am going to take the Ipad, 2 sets of pjs, wear the clothes out that I came in with other than the undergarmets, brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, deoderant, and thank you cards to fill out for my students if i am up to it.  Oh, and the cell.  Slippers.  I should take slippers...or maybe fuzzy socks, no wait I may slip....

I bought 3 ounce dixie cups for work to help me keep track of portions (shakes- I blend up a day supply at once).  I also just picked up 4 ounce snack tupperware cups off of ebay- perfect size!   I am also thinking about pulling out my old kid divided plate with lids- very small compartments for when I can eat more than just yogurt.  I think at home I will use that at dinner time and eventually it will make it easy to pack lunches.

Does anyone really use a baby spoon?  I like the idea of the smaller bites, but a bit awkward to use in public.  Has anyone found a different solution for this aside from smaller bites on regular utensils?

Topic: RE: Protein shakes...HELP
I am one of the Isopure drinkers, but I drink Isopure PLUS.  I was warned the regular version of Isopure is terrible.  The plus version is good.  8 ounces and 15 grams of protein, but no chalky sweet taste to it.  I made the mistake of buying the Costco sized Muscle Milk.  I am about done with it now (finally) but had to add cocoa powder each time I made a shake.  I also found in not filling at all and ended up adding unflavored protein to it.  The calorie count on it started high to begin with, and all the extra calories add up.  I lost the weight that I needed to, but it would have been better if I had not made the ginourmous muscle milk mistake.  Muscle milk lite is sold ready to drink at Costco and I heard that is better than the powder version that I have.  Still, compared to Schwags shakes it likely is not as good.  I like the HMR 70 Plus shakes alot, but there are very expensive compared to what you buy at Costco.  I have a bag of soy based isolate mix that I am moving onto next post surgery.  If I don't like it I have a supply of the HMR to get me through until I buy something different.  Post surgery I will be drinking less shakes so I may switch over to the ready to drink.

Hey Sleeve Sister!  I am Monday at 10:30.  I have been fortunate to not be very nervous about it, but I also fill  time with preparing for it and that really helps.  Thought I might have been coming down with a bug that was in my classroom last week, but once I was up and moving I feel normal.  Hope I don't flunk the cbc blood work done this morning!  So, instead of me thinking about not waking up I instead focus on preparing for my return!

I told 2 of my 3 kids the truth, and told my youngest it was a hernia operation.   First question out of her mouth... is this the cancer that came back? It gave her something to Google without cancer coming up.   I have to be super careful with her, whereas the older kids understand better what is going on.  In all, I trust my surgeon, I am prepared for life after surgery (or at least I think I am), I lost the minimum weight asked of me, the hubby is on board, the kids are aware, work is set, and I am ready to go!

I have used a brand called Jarrow off of Amazon.  It was $10 shipped to my house for one pound.  I only have added it into shakes though and used a blender to mix.  At least it would be  a little cheaper than buying a ton that you end up potentially not liking.

Those are not as filling as the shakes.  If you are able to do full liquid (shakes) then that may help.  I buy HMR 70 plus from the doctor, pricey but good.  Then I got cheap and switched to Muscle Milk (huge container bought from Costco) but note the calories are a little higher and I ended up adding protein to it as I was hungry in between shakes.  I also added some cocoa powder to it to combat the chalky taste.  Somebody I met at Costco the day I bought it recommended the MuscleMIlk light ready to drink, as she said it tasted much better and less calores.   I will switch over once I finish up my mongo sized jug.  I also bought a bag of soy based shake mix, just to have a different option on hand in case the other two don't set well after surgery.

Goodness Schway, that is MUCH slower than the plan I was given.

Clear liquids for 2 days (while in the hospital).  Then full liquids for 2 weeks, and this includes some food items such as greek yougurt, hot cereal (no chuncks and fairly thin).  I will try a recipe given that is 1 cotainer silken tofu light pureed with 1 ripe mango and some articial sweetner- that is on my ok list during the first two weeks.  Weeks 3-4 I move to pureed and by week 6 I add in normal food slowly.  Mine feels so fast that I am considering extending the clear liquids a bit after the hospital, but then another poster said something that made a lot of sense- our stomachs will tell us if it is ok.  I would NEVER add food that wasn't allowed during a phase, but if the shakes are ok and I am hungry then I will do a shake.

I bought dixie cups sized 3 ounce to help me to more easily measure portions.  That is something I do not normally do- measure.  Looking to add good habits every day though!

The drink is different then a shake.  The shakes are thicker and a bit foamy, which presurgery I can do.  I just know that if naseua ends up being any kind of an issue I won't be able to get the shakes down, so I went looking for alternatives.  Also, just in case I get too full from the shakes this would also go down easier for that reason.  Somewhere on here I asked a questioned that a poster told me about Isopure Plus, so I tracked some down.  It is fundementally differenent- it drinks like Koolaid of Cyrstal light, so thin like water.  No strong odor or aftertaste, yet still has 15 grams protein per 8 ounces.  What is doesn't have is any added vitamins, minerals, or carbs.  You get only the protein.  Be warned, my friendly poster said that there is a huge difference between Isopure and Isopure "Plus"- the non plus version tasted like "vomit" in his or her words.  I just though I would skip the vomit drink and go right to the plus :)

I already put a pack of these in the fridge in my classroom with a few RTD shakes for when I return to work.  (I acutally have to plan ahead to make sure I am not carrying more than 10 pounds- teachers tend to take home large bags filled with grading and books everynight, and my purse alone outweighs the 10 pound limit.  Hence, did as much of the carrying as i could to buy me some time.

Anyway, Isopure is my plan b for the first two weeks.  My protein goal will jump up to 82 grams after two weeks and the dietician warned that this is hard for most people.  The isopure should make that much easier to obtain.

You know, I just went through my how to eat after surgery meeting and they didn't say anything about calories during the first two weeks.  It was all about 40 grams of protein and 64 ounces of fluid.  Hmm..

Today I tried an Isopure Plus Alpine Plus drink- 15 protein, 60 calories to see if it was suitable.  I actually really liked it.  If hunger is not an issue after surgery then I would almost rather make this my fluid intake for easy tracking of protein.  One 20 ounce bottle was 40 grams of protein and GNC has it on sale right now.  What I don't know is if this is ok.  There would not be any sugar or carbs if I do that, and that can't be good for the blood sugar level after awhile.

Seems like you are doing awesomely well!  I was a little worried about you after your first post, so hopefully this means you are doing well!
