Topic: RE: "Last supper" mentality

I actually had a "going away" party for my stomach. All the guests had to bring one of my favorite dishes. You will find after surgery that you really don't miss a lot of thise foods, at least I don't.

Topic: RE: Great NSV, at least I think so!
I had to get a pre-employment phisical yesterday. The nurse took my blood pressure with a regular size cuff, not the XL cuff. This was very exciting for me!

Topic: RE: Egg White Protein
I use the 100% Egg Protein powder and love it! I usually just use ice and water alond with a 1/2 of banana.

Topic: RE: Ball & Chain = EVIL
When my surgeon yanked my drain I told him the pain was worse then child birth. He proceeded to tell me no it's not. Of course I had to ask how he knew as he never had a drain and never gave birth. I was so glad when that was gone!

Topic: RE: Non-NSV-Air Travel-I Can't Lie
Since my surgery I have not yet flown however I do find myself noticing how many heavy people there are and what their routines are. Boy, to think I used to do alot of the same things to "hide" the fat me.

Topic: RE: I no longer wear women's clothes!
Thank you everyone for the kind words! It is very exciting!

Topic: RE: I no longer wear women's clothes!
I am no longer in women's sizes! I went shopping this weekend, before my pants fell off, and I am wearing a "normal" size 16! I am so excited!

Topic: RE: Accused of sailing the system?
What a jerk! I made my decision in March to have VSG and had my procedure in April. I took in so much information in that 4 weeks my head was spinning. My insurance did not specify any time frame for taking classes, only the supervised weight loss. If you feel they are intentionally delaying your procedure to "left it sink in" I would kick an appeal up to the Insurance Commissioner in your area. This should help them to "let it sink in" that they cannot do this.
Don't give up! Check you guidelines and then do what they say. Here's to hoping we see you soon on the losers bench!

Topic: RE: Questions
As I'm sure you will hear from many of us, this is the best decision I ever made and would not change it for the world! I feel amazing and have not been sick, something I hear is very common with the band.

Topic: RE: DC/VA/MD sleevers -- meet-up?!?!??!?!
I would love to meet up, I live in Columbia, MD. Perhaps we may need to split the group? To MD and VA and our DC friends can pick the location that is closest to them?

Topic: RE: finally a sleever
I cut my pills in half. Once I took the first half I would wait to make sure it stayed down and then take the other half. Remember that soon this will all be in the past and it does get better! Listen to your new tummy and follow your doctor's orders and your NUTS advise.

Topic: RE: six weeks after sugery
I'm sorry you had so many problems. My suggestion is to search eggface on OH. She has wonderful recipes for all stages of the sleeve. Good luck and remember, it does get better!

Topic: RE: Possible Surgical Complications/ Mistakes
I have 2 questions: how often has this happened to the surgeon? What happens to the body without the spleen? If both questions are answered in a way you are comfortable with then proceed. Remember that with EVERY surgery there is a risk. How bad do you want this?

Topic: RE: Happy with your Sleeve?
I love me sleeve as you will find most of us do. As people are saying this is your surgery and your body you do what you want. If you love your doctor, talk to him. You are in charge of your medical experience.

Topic: RE: Beef Jerkey?
I'm 15 weeks out and always have beef jerky around. I usually buy mine from Costco. I buy the Prime Rib, a little pricey but worth it!

Topic: RE: thechive.com posted this today...
Haha, how true!!

Topic: RE: VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS OR REGIMENS? VETS HELP PLEASE!!
I was concerned too but after speaking with the Rep, in person, my NUT and my doctor everything is fine. They actually recommend taking the Nutrametrix in this manner.

Topic: RE: VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS OR REGIMENS? VETS HELP PLEASE!!
OMG, between getting in fluid and protein I could never keep up with some of the above vitamin regimens. Here's mine:

1 capful of Nutrametrix multivitamin with iron
3 capfuls of Nutrametrix calcium
Add water and wait 20 minutes
Drink the vitamin ****tail once a day, it tastes like Tang.

I shoot up once a month with my B12 (my new addiction, I love this stuff).

That's it, I'm done. My labs are great! I order my vitamins online and have them on autoship so I don't have to think about them anymore. They run about $114 every 90 days. The B12 I got from my doctor along with syringes. I have loose skin on my tummy, of course, so I don't really feel the injection.

Topic: RE: Lactose Free Shakes
I use 100% Egg Protein from the Vitamin Shoppe. If I double scoop my shake I'm getting 48g of protein at a time. Make them with water and 1/2 banana, only half as they are high in carbs, or alomond milk.

Topic: RE: How many times a day do you eat?
When are you having your protein shakes? Can you double scoop them? I double scoop mine giving me 48g of protein in one serving. Another suggestion is to have 2 protein shakes a day. I will usually have one for breakfast and one for a snack, both double scooped so I've met all my protein in 2 meals. Any other protein during the day is bonus.

Topic: RE: Vets chime in please - little confused about post op diet
On instances like this follow the plan your doctor gave you. As long as you are sticking to the plan you will be fine. I would talk to your doctor or NUT about the protein shakes as they are just as important as the fluids. Good luck in your journey and WELCOME TO THE LOSERS BENCH!

Topic: RE: a bit lost on the exercise front
Knowing you can't afford a trainer why not go in and ask the people at the gum to show you how to work the machines? My gym had the trainers do this so we learn the equipment correctly, and it's FREE! Once you are on the floor going over the machines then tell them what areas you wish to target, they will direct you to the best machines.
As for cardio check out the classes offered. I like taebo and spinning but they are not for everyone. See what's offered and try a couple, you'll find something. I wish my gym offered boxing! I have used Couch to 5k before to start running but I HATE running! The program is an app that uses interval training.
Good luck in finding the right program for you!
Topic: RE: Am I nesting
I think something's wrong! I know I'm not preggers or else I'd be divorced, my hubby was snipped 11 years ago. I feel like I'm nesting. Thursday I went fishing all day on the Chesapeake Bay. Afterwards I went to the gym with my kids. Yesterday I mowed the lawn!?! We only have a 1/8th of an acre, but I mowed the lawn! Today I cleaned the house, ALONE! I did my floors on my hands and knees!

Oh wait, I'm not nesting, I have so much freakin' energy I can't sit still!! I LOVE MY SLEEVE! This was the best decision I ever made!

Topic: RE: Stranger Stupid Comment
I'm so sorry that they said that! I'm surprised everytime I read something like this that the offended doesn't say something...FEEL EMPOWERED! Maybe it's just me but there is no way I would let that slide and I know none of my kids who are 11, 13 and 15 would either (nor would they say anything like that!).
