Topic: RE: Two Days Post Op - Sleeve - Having Horrible Stomach Spasms - Anybody Else???

Tell your doc...he just perscribed ya ONE HELLUVA ineffective OLD school anti-spasmodic.  The reason most docs won't perscribe it anymore is because of BLURRED VISION, vision changes that takes MONTHS to resolve once your discontinued OFF it.

I took it YEARS ago after a surgery (ovarian cyst ruptured n nearly killed me) had to have an illeostomy. Was perscribed that ****saw two eye doctors before 1 told me the blurred vision, rectangular shaped stars, and double moon I saw at NIGHT was because of the hyo. It took a long while for those symptoms to QUIT. Very disturbing....

Tell your doc to look into somethin else. to control these symptoms

2 days post op can be normal swelling/inflammation....see how ya do with ICEY ..gatorade G2s, electrolyte popsicles (walgreens generic) /pedilyte popscicles, semi freezin your protein supps...SLUSHIES ...spoon em in / make ice cubes outta em suckj on em....reasons 3 fold...1. more electrolytes in ya..#1 cause of ER visit is dehydration...2. icey helps reduce internal throat and incision line swelling,   3. helps with post op nausea.

WALK WALK WALK, move that post op trapped gas around. fart fart fart....heating pad and over arm exercises gently workin that trapped CO2 gas (shoulder) outta ya....gas x strips...double up on em...ya won't overdose.

HTH

Topic: RE: What is the 5 day pouch test?

It always amazes me how VSGrs who NEVER EVER tried or completed the 5DPT  KNOW so much about it...and ready to slam it, anyone who inquires about it or actually DOES or DID IT

The 5DPT is a VERY useful and effective tool for VSGrs. A tool like any other tool... a high protein low carb "diet", very low calorie "diets", myfitnesspal, a cookbook that sits in your kitchen library collecting dust like ALL mine do! ha! TOOLS!!  Can use em IF ya want to , don't want to ...don't HAVE TO.  ...same way I feel about 5DPT. which Ive done maybe 6 times in my post VSG life to break a stall and jump start my weight loss.

"Those that say it can’t be done should get out of the way of those doing it" Chinese Proverb

The 5DPT 5 Day Pouch Test...was developed by RNYr Kaye Bailey in 2007.  RNYrs are the model in bariatric surgery. DSrs and VSGrs alike get ALL our diets the no drink after eating rules, progression in texture dietary phases post op,  calories, daily macronutrient requirements, vits/minerals, and other tools like the CCT (cottage cheese test)  to check our stomachs capacity which many VSGrs do/have done.. post op...ALL come from  RNY

The word POUCH to describe a VSG stomach is used pretty much exclusively by doctors, researchers , and BARIATRIC SURGEONS..incs this forums sponsor Dr. Criangle. (a quote of his describing VSG "pouch" on my Bougies in VSG blog) my medical records from VSG describe it as a "pouch", my gastroenterologist records describe it as a "pouch" .

.some VSGrs  get pretty offended when they see our sleeve's referred to as a pouch...lmao!  I about punched my older sister in the mouth when she introduced me as "the one who had gastric bypass" at a Christmas party 3 months post op but would never think of punching my surgeon in the mouth for sayin I have a pouch!

the 5DPT is a GREAT TOOL. ..rec for VSGrs over 6 months post op ...one gal here posted her nut said to wait till after 9 months post op so you check with your nut in case...some day...

when your moanin n groanin for months about the crap carb creep and need to carb detox, break a stall or plateau, need to get back to basics, reaffirm THE RULES of EFFECTIVE weight loss, jump start your weight loss, complain of NO restriction "because I eat  more than jane doe or joe schmo" , Ive regained at 2 years out so Im looking to go under the knife again for resleeve, DS, a lapband around my sleeve.. blaming VSG, blaming my surgeons technique anyone and everyone...

let me tell ya that 5DPT can be a GODSEND! It tells you plain as the nose on your face...your restriction is INDEED THERE and NEVER LEFT YOU!!  in ONLY 5 DAYS!!   By 2nd day your in ketosis...pure unadulterated FAT BURNING for energy mode. By day 3 NOT hungry anymore. Day 4 & 5 most weight lost. Most Ive lost was 8 pounds in 5 days..followin it to a T! . Usually the typical 5 in 5...in ONLY 5 DAYS!!  It has NOTHING WHATSOVER to do with CALORIE RESTRICTION "dieting" /torture...its about reaffirming the rules, checking restriction-gettin that tight feelin back

5 DPT looks like this:

DAY 1 and 2 full liquids: protein supps, protein based lo carb cream/blended soups/broths, sf jello/puddings.

Day 3 soft protein ...i.e: soft fish inc canned, eggs  lo carb (lactose) cottage cheese, yogurt/s

Day 4 firm protein...i.e ground turkey, chicken, beef, all fish types (avoid fried, breaded)

Day 5 solid protein....i.e. lean (not fatty) dense proteins:  white chicken /turkey breast, pork tenderloin, beef /steak, game meats

Each subsequent day ....you can include any foods you had the previous day/s.

Can have salsa, chili, chipotle/mayo, mustards lo carb/SF condiments, spices, flavorers to jazz things up. This atkins carb list includes spices is pretty good.

Day 6 and thereafter...if you so chose...go Atkins induction phase maximize ketosis...it  adds a whole list of low carb veggies allowed in induction. ...go next Atkins stage....if you want.

A few caveats on doing the 5DPT on my Stalls and Plateaus blog. ..gotta scroll down some.

Do it...Don't do it  Just don't be so ready to  about it ...if ya don't

Topic: RE: AVERAGE WEIGHT LOSS ON VSG??

Im sorry to hear about your best friend. So young...what a blow!

n Dang! you lost all that weight before VSG....I dunno how true it is...but Ive heard if you lose alot of weight prior to VSG...you might not lose as fast post op. Also when peeps go to revision to DS..from VSG sometimes complain about not losing as fast.

Grehlin...many peeps have no hunger...true hunger or appetite a helluva lot sooner than I did.  It came in WAVES of months for me....reminded me of my old Phen-Fen days...I haven't experienced that for over a year now!   lmao

OPTIMIZE THIS RAPID FAT LOSS PHASE NJ...get as much of that excess weight OFF ya as ya can!

diet, (ez on the crap),    n cant wait to see your PIX!!  woot woot

Topic: RE: Did you have a leak??

oh crap your in the hospital!! No relief with the dilation huh and they didn't see leak then.. Well your in good hands now Hang in there bug... Hope they find what ails ya. Keep up the good fight!

Topic: RE: Did you have a leak??

k got it...for breath foul tasting...can be

thrush (oral yeast.candida) from IV a/b usage ..will kinda have a white coated tongue, maybe some sordes, little/larger white patches on tongue mouth...with A/Bs they kill off bacteria bugs but  others like yeast/fungus bugs..aren't touched so there's an explosion of em that manifests elsewhere! Candida loves loves loves sugar...artificial ones too...sugar alcohols nope.

bile reflux like sour taste..puking on an empty stomach..ever get so drunk nothin in your stomach but booze..n PUKE! yup that yellow greenish nasty  is BILE from your small intestine. Mostly peeps w/ pyloric damage, common for a lil while post gallbladder removal ..bile don't know what to do with itself once gall bladder is gone I guess, sometimes misdiagnosed as GERD but if thats not controlled by PPIs docs will look closer at bile , peptic ulcers can cause bile reflux...mostly in stomach/small intestine where bile sits (h. pylori a bad bug)...bile reflux can cause stomach cancer and barretts esophagus. Caustic **** way worse than the little HCL we reflux imo...if not treated.

ketosis /ketoacidosis(fat burning for energy mode, losin a crap load of adipose fat from super low carbs less than 30gs) dragon breath usually lasts a week or two. Most peeps describe it as a "metallic" taste with bad breathe someone can smell across a football stadium...lmao!

Maybe can start checkin out these...is this the only symptom your havin? Maybe post ALL your abnormal symptoms here at once. Maybe we can help narrow your search some.

n way to be your own patient advocate. Easy tho it can make ya loco...BTDT plenty of times!  Ive got so many supplements I take...I got 2 huge fish lure boxes just for them! yeah Im a hypochrondric! lmao  supplements tho don't do drugs no more post VSG ,-)

hey bug were'nt you the gal that had a stricture and balloon dilation?  Now you have a leak? or ?

Some signs and symptoms of LEAKS and STRICTURES

Most common signs...tachycardia RAPID heart beat...for HOURS. and also unexplained fever over 100.5

post op.. I thought I had a BRAIN TUMOR

Haven't your doctors calmed you down YET?   And until someone jumps in ...DO A SEARCH...enter VSG LEAK...lots of peeps w/ em here in the past 5 years ...way more than stricture...

n always error on the side of caution...and get it checked out  WITH YOUR DOCTORS.  Never come to a WEIGHT LOSS FORUM for medical advice, even tho this board is sponsored by a surgeons office.  Dr. Criangle NEVER posts here k.

Topic: RE: News Story

Boo...no mention of VSG at all or do I need new reading glasses? you have VSG AFTER you became a body builder and lost 125 pounds...or maybe too embarrassed to mention it took VSG (extreme remedies for extreme ills)  to "get there"

'It took me over two decades to realize there is no magic bullet, no pill, no powder or drink,' she said, 'It's a slow process but you do get there!' It took Ms English 13 months to lose the weight she had put on due to various life cir****tances.

Im just JEALOUS  raaarrr pppsssst!!! lmao

Ya look GREAT!! bottom line ...it IS YOUR WORK really that is has got ya there!

Topic: RE: AVERAGE WEIGHT LOSS ON VSG??

average?  average usually for whom?  are you a man? well you will lose a ****load more right quick. Are you super morbid obese? well you will lose a ****load more right quick.   Are you SHORT? well you will lose a ****load more right quick ..Are you SMALL/PETITE FRAMED? well you will lose a ****load more right quick.

Oh maybe lyour ooking for average weight loss on VSG...when it became legit in Jan 2010....60%  Average eventual weight loss that MUST be proven for a WLS to be considered successful is 50% eventual weight loss. That's it...before it can be become OFFICIALLY recognized. That was in Jan 2010!  in making it legit. That 60% stat says NOTHING whatsoever about an individual VSGr.

Oh maybe looking for average from a particular surgeons office...well let's see ...IF I go by ALL the people Ive seen from MY surgeon's office...that have posted on OH in the past 5 years...all maybe 6 of us....100-110% is OUR average EWL at 15 months post op.  So I guess average weight loss usually for my surgeons office is 105%

We're ONLY a tiny fraction representin my surgeons office here tho.  TINY FRACTION. ..... NOTHIN on the hundreds comin outta my surgeon's office in SoCal every year..I don't know nuthin about em .... alls this 105% stat makes me... is one pompous ass to think everyone from my surgeon's office gets to 100+% average eventual weight loss.

How's that for AVERAGE/s ,-)

I have no idea what is average..who you are or what is "average" for YOU. ...nor does ANYONE else here.  Talk to your surgeon if you want HIS average for YOU, if you have concerns. Getting hungry already...getting hungry period.. is not a symptom VSG eliminates, your surgeon can fix...unless he chopped your head off too right ...never have to "feel" hunger if ya ain't got a brain!! lmao... Can be acid reflux post surgery...common post gastro surgery...on a PPI? Grehlin didn't kick in for me until I was 10 months post op. Grehlin is powerful, significantly reduced w/ VSG... but alas not our only hunger hormone. Insulin, CCK, leptin, cortisol heavier hitters. ..n Losing "ONLY" 11 pounds in 11 days tho ..... is NOT VSGs/your surgeons issue...but YOUR HEADS...glass half empty deal anxiety hittin ya?

your attitude makes all the difference on this NEWJOURNY... expectations are pre-meditated disappointments....lower the bar a tad and be GRATEFUL for second chances to make this right by and "only" for YOU!

Fear panic worry anxiety comparing yourself-not measuring upmost feelings, negative thinking are transitory, not reliable as you enter the hormonal hell phase of VSG....don't depend on em entirely. Kick em to the curb ,-)

Walk, water, ^^protein for post surgical repair , vits n mins, sleep and control that stress (cortisol) Your gonna be ok...strike that...yer gonna be GREAT!!! go get them goals NJ work on them next 5 pounds. Oh crap...ya got the 3 week stall comin up huh..so heads up! Don't freak k  YOUR body just doin its thing making its adjustments! Some more info on stalls n plateaus  blog.

Keep postin and reading NJ...your head in the WLS game....this forum is open 24/7 we never close.  PLEASE PLEASE care to be accountable to YOU everyday. Do the best ya can, trust the process,  ultimately yourself...and never ever give up on your WL goals and dreams for a new and improved YOU no matter how frustratin it gets ,-)

Topic: RE: Anyone know medical jargon??

sounds like you have a stricture (narrowing) presented stomach "dysmotility" ( 'difficulty moving' foods thru peristalsis past the stricture) ...dilated (stretched) the tissue with balloon dilation...to 15 mm (~size across inside of a dime)  ...typical treatment with endoscopy for stricture.

They inflate deflate the balloon tip attached to the endoscope a few times to push the scar tissue (stricture-narrowing) back  and widen that narrowing...to improve motility food gettin past.

I think your lucky you had this sooner rather than later...crossin fingers that stubborn ole scar tissue is nice n soft enough to STAY DOWN with just the one dilation. ... many peeps with strictures have to go in for repeated dilations cuz that ole scar tissue can be stubborn wannin to spring back to where n how it was formed... months later before repeat dilations n gently stretchin it out over a few treatments..keeps it down for good.

Everythin else looks great..esophagus and duodenum (small intestine just past your pyloric valve)

I would expect to get better...strictures are annoying but you can do so much to help yourself out....while gettin past it  Take it easy with meats, low fiber foods that slow peristalsis while yer healin.....chew to liquid as much as possible to help yer stomach out...will also help slow YOU down so you can concentrate on SATIETY!! lol  see how that works!

This report says to me... yer well on your way...to gettin past this speed bump n  ROCKIN THAT SLEEVE!!

Topic: RE: Whey protein vs whey protein isolate

unless yer into Ms Olympus type body building...stick with the whey protein concentrate. Its alkaline NOT ACID processed..RANCID isomer protein. Acid forming foods...I limit.. personal preference of course ,-)

Topic: RE: Cottage Cheese Flavorings?

I use mine in omelettes, egg scrambles, also add carbmasters yogurt to cut salty taste .. the yogurt w/ cottage cheese sounds so weird..but this suggestion from a newly post op years ago...OMG so delicious STILL a staple in my diet to date. Give it a try...if yer the adventuous NOT one to be restricted from boredom/food ruts kinda VSGr

Topic: RE: If your squemish....look away!!!

You too I know your PAIN!! lmao...my lil porkchop was 10 pounds 12 oz...NATURAL nothin but Vistaril prior...lil brat surpriseruined my sex life too!   23 years now..gotta tie a 2x4 around Caveman so he don't fall in lmao

yeah candida flairs hurt like a muther don't they! ...on and off for a year or two maybe...wont get them as frequently the further out you go...yeasts/fungus thrive in dark warm places...under boobage, pannis, and belly buttons ,-)  skin irritated by sweat/moisture.

For particular bad flairs my go to is Clotrimazole (azoles=for yeasts/fungus)..get it in the female/ tampon /monistat section..a big OTC generic tube (walmart/walgreens i.e.) for same $ a tiny tube costs in the atheletes foot section.

Always on CLEAN, pat dried skin. Liberally applied (so get that bigger tube)...ooooh feels sooo good right away..gone in a day or two

Preventative/not a full on red flamin burnin sloughin rash..GOOD HYGIENE,.CLEAN, DRY skin...NON ALUMINUM deodorant, followed by zinc oxide

All OTC...no script required but man what a relief! lmao!

Some dermatologists will prescribe...nystatin ointment, ketonazole (never worked for me) and for real bad flairs clortrimazole w/ betamethasone ..the beta is a steroid to reduce the inflammation..can cause skin thinning (steroid) so must be used sparingly..but highly effective. like overnight effective

For bad flairs..always take pics, see a dermatologist if your looking for documentation for insurance covered plastics. If VSG was indeed insurance covered good chances your plastics if only a panniculectomy will be covered. Redundant skin issues post WLS is NOT cosmetic surgery...don't let any plastic surgeons office tell you it is.

n no need to be embarrassed about nuthin here we're closer than some of our own families even! .. commonality of obesity issues/VSG. Thousands of us...BTDT!

a day in the life...wont be such a big deal if you don't make it one. Carry on soldier...tomorrow's a NEW DAY!

Topic: RE: Two and a half years out question?

When did all this happen? gallbladder removal?  did the BR start after?  Eating frequent mini meals? high in soluble fiber (binds bile and eliminates it vs. recycling in our bodies

Ya really need to talk to your surgeon...I have no idea what a astophagi is..never heard of it.  I don't know how far out from this procedure you are?  if its related. Only your docs...can help ya there....even tho this forum is sponsored by a surgeon's office...he doesn't EVER come here to help us, never with medical questions.  Maybe you can PM one of Dr. Criangle's pts and see if they can relay a message to him...I understand his pts ask him questions.. at support groups.. for peeps here.

yeah 2 year mark...regain gets alot of us...get soooo relaxed with the novelty of weight loss without a whole lotta effort...and we get soooo damn sick of "dieting"..I got this...the CRAP CARB CREEP  eatin CRAP chronically, .  Chasing regain over 5 pounds...is a total *****!  but doable!

Focus 5 pounds at a time...eat clean START TODAY! Tomorrow never comes...n you know it...I sure did!! ...TODAY!! Don't think about it DO IT.

Clear out the CRAP the flour the processed man made quick n convenient loaded with CRAP carbs....prepare YOUR OWN MEALS...will give ya plenty of time to really think about what you put in your mouth..when ya PLAN!!

Quit goin out to restaurants fast food joints man-made convienent...you don't know what its cooked in, crap they put in that food,..besides spit and dirty fingers

Lots of water, lots of sleep, lots of distracted...MOVEMENT away from your comfort zone...the food source...your kitchen! that candy dish, bag lmao!

I dunno...you already know what to do  it wasn't so long ago you had the tools for weight loss...back to basics! ...re-evaluate where you are. I used to say...if I didn't want to be EXACTLY where I am...Id be somewhere else.  It took quite awhile for me to get to be EXACTLY where I am...lose ALL 25 of  my regain...and KEEP IT ALL OFF goin on a year ....don't lose your focus...and never ever give up  ...If an old goat like me can do it ms. lisa...why not YOU ,-)

20 Healthy Weight Loss Tips From People Who Lost Over 50 Pounds

We asked, and you delivered. Thank you to all who contributed. Literally hundreds of healthy weight loss tips were emailed in and posted on Facebook. All of the tips were compiled, and a common pattern began to take shape. Here they are - 20 of the best healthy weight loss tips from people who have lost over 50 pounds.

Drink Water

One of the biggest common denominators amongst people who lost over 50 pounds is they all switched over to drinking water. They gave up the sodas and sugary drinks and instead quenched their thirst with water. This tip alone helped hundreds of people lose weight.

See why drinking water is the secret to fat loss.

Keep a Food Journal

Write down everything that goes into your mouth. Most people were surprised to see how much they were actually eating. It wasn't until they wrote it down that they began to realize the cause and effect of what they were putting into their bodies.

Here are 6 convincing reasons to start journaling your food intake.

Count Calories

What a boring and tedious job, but probably one of the most effective undertakings for losing weight. There is no getting around calorie balance. If you want to lose weight, you have to eat less than you burn. I personally use the LoseIt app to track my food calories (calories in), and the BodyMedia FIT Armband to track my daily calorie burn (calories out).

Control Portion Sizes

In our super-sized food culture, portion sizes have gotten out of control. Eating portions the size of your fist is a good start towards controlling your food intake. Getting in the habit of measuring your food with a digital food scale is a great way to learn how to eye portion sizes. Also, don't feel like you always need to finish off all the food on your plate. Leaving a couple bites will teach you self-control.

Here's how to determine correct portion sizes for weight loss without calorie counting.

Don't Diet

The best "diet" is the one that best fits into your lifestyle. Once you find that, it's no longer a diet - it's just a way of life. One of the best healthy weight loss tips people sent in was to approach weight loss as a lifestyle change, and not as a diet. Once you get it out of your head that there's an end date, you can start focusing on the day-to-day realities of living a healthy lifestyle. Being fit is not a destination - it's a way of life.

Be Consistent

No one is perfect. We are all going to make mistakes. However, successful people are consistently living a healthy lifestyle. Over a period of time, they are eating healthy 90% of the time, and they are exercising several times a week. Make exercise and healthy eating part of your everyday routine and soon it will be as second nature as brushing your teeth.

Plan

A healthy lifestyle takes planning. Most mistakes occur from a lack of a plan. Plan your meals in advance so you know what to buy every week at the grocery store. Only buy what you plan on eating, and try to cook your meals ahead of time. The simple nature of reheat and eat makes it much more likely that you'll stay on track.

Make Small Changes

Make small changes consistently until they are habit and you no longer have to think about it, and then make another change. There's no need to completely change your lifestyle all at once. You'll be much more likely to stick with your new healthy lifestyle if you make small changes. Try changing one thing at a time.

Here are 10 baby steps towards better health and fitness.

Educate Yourself

Learn the whys. Don't just do something because someone said to. Understand the purpose behind it. Many people just want a meal plan or blueprint to follow for weight loss. However, the successful people that lost weight and kept it off long term started taking an interest in how nutrition and exercise impact their bodies. They learned the "whys" behind what they were doing, and they were more successful because of it.

Get Active

Nearly everyone who lost over 50 pounds added in some form of physical activity. Even if it was just a little bit, the fact that they were more active helped them lose the weight. The trick is to find an activity you enjoy. Not everyone likes the same exercise. Find an activity you love to do, and then push yourself out of your comfort zone. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Don't Beat Yourself Up

You're going to mess up. We all do. Successful people don't beat themselves up over it. They get right back on track. They don't wait until tomorrow to do so either. Their healthy lifestyle and weight loss continues to move forward and make progress because they allow themselves to make mistakes, learn from them, and then end up stronger as a result.

Surround Yourself With Positive People

We are highly influenced by the people close to us. Many successful people had to move forward with their lives and leave old friends and lifestyles behind. It was a hard decision to make, but they understood how important it was to surround themselves with people who believed in their dreams.

Start

How do you expect to accomplish your goals if you never start trying to achieve them? Beginning is half the challenge. Don't be afraid of failure. People who lost over 50 pounds stopped waiting for things to happen, and went out and made things happen.

Here are 8 common weight loss mistakes you should avoid.

Stop Making Excuses

Successful people made the shift and realized that the reasons for why they weren't reaching their weight loss goals were actually just excuses. It was a hard idea to accept, but once they were honest with themselves, they spent less time making excuses, and more time finding ways to accomplish their goals.

Do It For Yourself

Make ME #1. Lose weight for Me, not because of pressure from other people. We all have our own reasons for wanting to lose weight, but a common denominator amongst the healthy weight loss tips sent in was that the successful people undertook their new lifestyle because they wanted to. They weren't pressured into weight loss by friends or family. They did it for themselves, and as a result, they inspired others to do something for themselves too.

Be Patient

You didn't gain your weight overnight, and you aren't going to lose it that way either. We all want the weight gone quickly, but once you realize that weight loss is a process, you can stop beating yourself up for not reaching your far-fetched weight loss goals. Stop looking at weight loss as a day to day challenge. If nothing changes, nothing changes. This is a lifetime commitment to changing.

See why losing 2lbs per week isn't realistic for everyone.

Stay Positive

Negative thoughts lead to negative results. You are the result of what you think. Keeping a positive outtake on your weight loss journey increases the odds of your success. You will learn a lot about yourself during your lifestyle transition. There will be many challenges and difficulties, but it's important to understand that even though it might not be easy, it will be worth it.

Discover Your Relationship With Food

Why are you eating bad? Make the connection between your eating habits and your emotions. Get to the root of your negative lifestyle choices. Know when your body needs food and when it wants food, and find new ways to reward yourself other than with food.

Don't Try to Be Perfect

If your goal is to be perfect, you're already setting yourself up for failure. No one is perfect. Even the people who seem to have the most perfect bodies didn't get there by being perfect. Perfection is something many strive for, but ultimately something they will never achieve. Do your best!

Read why progress, not perfection, is the key to long-term success.

Never Give Up

Weight loss happens the moment you don't give up. Many people don't realize how close they were to achieving success. There comes a time when things just click, but that doesn't happen until you're ready to throw in the towel and call it quits. The longer you stick with it, the higher your odds of success. Keep moving forward, and don't ever give up!

Topic: RE: Hello, new to posting. Question about Baratric Advantage Meal Replacement.

H. pylori hates pepto bismol...put it in the fridge tastes better chilled

on BA MEAL REPLACEMENTS...one word...devil  no ..ok two devildevil

my surg gave me a choice BA or MEDIFAST MR supps.  Bariatric Advantage catchy name...so chose it. I went to their warehouse in Irvine  (an industrial park) during a preop visit out in cali...  I walked out with x2  3 pound tubs each...banana chocolate and vanilla. ...some special BOGO .~$250 total...with shakers

The most vile **** I ever tasted in my life...I mixed it with milks, with water...I had to hold my nose, use straws to drink it ...it SMELT like a dead animal.  No refunds. WTF...stuck with em ALL. I was ~6 months post op before I finished em ALL...lmao!

SO.......go with the SMALL LETTERS...lmao! SIMILAR/comparable..I have read better reviews on Medifast.   Do NOT mistake MEAL REPLACEMENT with REGULAR PROTEIN WHEY ISOLATE supps. tho NOT THE SAME.  Amino Acids  in MR are MUCH better amts than reg protein supps...and they have way more daily vits n mins...built in each serv.

Topic: RE: Under eating your sleeve?

Its a Japanese custom..called Hara Hachi Bu undereat our stomach sleeve capacity...tradition taught to them since childhood so they don't overeat and become obese.

Techniques can be mastered by ALL not only Japanese...takes about 20 meals for the stomach to memorize satiety point..(no longer hungry and no longer full)

You eat 80% of stomach capacity. As soon as ya feel the slightest amount of pressure following a BITE...YOUR DONE...immediately discard or put away till later.

Dr. Oz article I found on it a couplea years ago  and then his show segment on it.

The Okinawa diet references Hara Hachi Bu

I can't get this link to go so here's the article on TECHNIQUE in the huffington post...written by a nut in Cali

Hara Hachi Bu: Eat Until You Are 80% Full

My husband is one of those naturally thin people. He has been thin his entire life and has never had a problem with food. As someone who has been up and down the scales and until 20 years ago when I lost 50 pounds and learned how to keep it off, flirted with various forms of binging and purging, it has been a fascinating learning experience to watch what this "naturally thin" creature does around food.   Early in our life together, we were at the dinner table and I noticed that he was just sitting there thinking. There was still food on his plate but he had put his fork down and it looked like he was pondering something important. I said,   "What are you doing?"   He said, "I'm thinking about how I will feel if I take one more bite. I think I've had enough but I'm just checking in to make sure."   It was then that I knew for sure that he was from an entirely different planet than me. On my planet, you ate until there was no more food on your plate. I was taught to clean my plate as a child. The reward for doing so was dessert. The amount on my plate was often determined by someone other than me. This style of eating had absolutely nothing to do with what my body needed, how full I was, or how I'd feel if I took one more bite. I never learned to listen to my body when it came to food.

The Japanese practice something that makes such sense that I can't believe we don't start teaching this to our kids. It's called "hara hachi bu". It means, eat until you are 80 percent full. You have probably heard about the Okinawan people and how they often live to 100. They are the longest lived, healthiest people on the planet and they practice hara hachi bu. Of course it helps to eat healthy food as well, but simply learning to eat until you are 80 percent full would do wonders for us Americans.   Most of us have no idea what 80 percent full feels like. We do know that if we eat until we are full, in 20 minutes we are likely to feel too full, as it takes about that long for the stomach to communicate with the brain just how full it is. But how do you tell when you are "80 percent full"? Here is what registered dietician, Susan Dopart, has to say on the subject:

It takes sometimes 15-20 meals to reset the muscle memory of the stomach to get used to less food and people need to trust that will happen. Most are used to eating until full, which is past satiation and which keeps weight on.

Susan suggests eating just half of what you normally eat and then checking in to see how you feel. According to Ms. Dopart, once we begin to feel any stomach pressure we are at the "80 percent full" stage. She also tells her clients to eat until they are no longer hungry, instead of eating until they are full.

Many of my clients say their hunger/satiety mechanism is broken. I understand this, as mine was as well. If you override your body's natural inclination to stop eating when it has had enough, over and over again, I think that natural signal can go into a coma. According to Susan, however, it can wake back up after about 20 meals. I can tell you that after years of maintaining a fifty pound weight loss, mine is working again. However, the challenge now is to listen to it and honor it.

Yer on mushies...and puking.  I didn't notice how far out you are...maybe 3-4 weeks if on mushies right? its been awhile ,-) you waitin till every bite settles in between bites. Maybe try really really slowin it down a notch.
