Topic: RE: 2 Year Surgiversary
Well my 2 year surgiversary was 1/22/13 and I'm so happy. I wish I had done it sooner. I had no complications and Dr. Alvarez was my surgeon. It took fourteen months to lose 110 pounds going from 228lbs and a size 28 to 122 and a size 6.

While in general clothing I look pretty good, nude you could say I would benefit from plastics which are scheduled with Dr. Siamak Agha later this year (TT/TL).

I can eat or drink pretty much anything in moderation but I tend to avoid refined grains, sodas, juices, crystal light type drinks. One of my favorite new goods is hemp seed and another is bison meat (higher in protein but lower in fat than beef). Generally, life is good and maintaining a health diet is easier than ever. I eat a low carb diet most every day but will splurge on carby goodness once every three or four weeks with no real negative effect.

I am please to say I made goal today. It took 14.5 months to hit goal and the last 5 months were painfully slow in terms of loss but I kept chewing the right thing and made it. Food journaling was the single biggest help besides many small meals.

I finally slipped into the Century Club and it feels great to still be losing weight thirteen months out. I'm so proud because I went through almost a two month plateau before slipping down again.

Topic: RE: will I ever like food again?
Yes, you will probably like food again. It took me about three months to feel "normal". It took a year to have a normal hunger pang. And even now, sometimes I just don't want to eat and have to force myself.

Before WLS I was used to only eatting for taste (read heavily processed) and now I am more than willing to force myself to eat for nutrician on those days food seems unappealing. It doesn't happen that often but when I am very tired from a long day, eatting is pretty much the last thing I want to do but I make myself. I tell myself I chose this, so I try to live with all its consequence ya know?

Total loss- 96 lbs

Now the brutal honesty...

Hair: I lost half or more but it's growing back.

Skin: My acne cleared up significantly but I look much older since more wrinkles show in my face. Unfortunately I had a large double chin and now have an empty turkey neck - might get it cut off, might live with it. Haven't decided.

Goal: I never hit it. I wanted to get down to 125 but my body seems happy at 132. I go up and down by a pound and half depending on my hydration/sodium level.

Waist: I do NOT look thin. I have a very thick short waist complicated by extra skin and stubborn fat deposits. The plastic surgeon said it was unlikely that I would get a sleek flat abdomen without a tuck and lipo which is sort of a bummer.

Butt: My butt is actually very bony with deep grooves in each side. I have trouble sitting for long periods. I also have so much extra skin that the bottom of each cheek that I have a triple set of wrinkles from sagging skin almost like I have saggy panties on.

Bust: My bust suffered alot. I am really closer to an "A" than a "B". I'd say my bust dropped 3 or more inches and falls unevely on my ribs. I need a lift but am not too keen on having one.

Thighs: Suffered the very worst and I have a permanent crease of empty skin about 8 inches long. Definitely need a lift or I will never wear shorts again.

Plastics: Planned Dec 2012.

I feel much better about myself and would still be happy I did the WLS even without plastics though without them I would never date again. I haven't dated and have been single ten years, and would go to the grave that way unless I get a more commercially appealing look but that's just me. I'm vain and I know it.

Still, two thumbs up. It saved my life.

Topic: RE: 8 months out & longer...do you still eat slowly & chew to mush?
I'm 8 months out and I still try to chew thoroughly. It helps me slow down because all my fat life I was an "inhale the food" sort of eatter. I find it a ritual of sorts that helps be mindful. At this point I still don't get what I would call "hungry" (no pangs) but I can tell when I haven't eatten by a sort of empty feeling - though quite different than before WLS.

I try to eat the right thing at the right time. I try to follow every recommendation but weight loss has slowed dramatically. I only lost 3.7 pounds between month 7 and 8. Some days I am just plain better than others. I do food journal and that helps keep me on track along with always, always, always eatting breakfast which is sort of a  first for me in this life.

I can get pain if I eat too fast, too much but I try to be good

Thanks everyone!

It is true I am very shy but everyone says I am unrecognizable from what I was before WLS. For me, I really do feel like I have a second chance to live the life I have always wanted to live. I am so grateful to Dr. Alvarez who set me free :)
