OMGosh, my stomach has never made noises like this!  And I'm going to the bathroom every half hour or so.  I'm on clear liquids until Monday.  Anyone?

Topic: RE: Day 4 Pre op
Hi there lady.  Sorry you're feeling so awful.  You know I did too.  The first two days of my pre-op diet I was a mess.  Why don't you call your NUT, maybe she could work with you.  Are you on a liquid diet?  From my research it makes no difference if you're doing a low carb/high protein "liquid" diet or a low carb/high protein "solid food" diet.  I followed an Atkins type plan for 12 days.  Plus I cheated about 4 times (not that I'm advocating that) and my liver was perfect (per doctor).  Good luck and feel better soon.

Hugs,
Jennifer

Topic: RE: Gaining and Losing with the Sleeve

I've always enjoyed reading your posts Elina, starting back in July when I became a member of OH.  As a new pre-op I pray to have "lost and gained" all that you have in a year.  Take care.

Topic: RE: Is there at least an upside to dumping?
This is all so disturbing to me.  I had vsg so I could live a "normal" life.  Even thin people eat sugar now and then.  Sigh.

Topic: RE: Need list of items I need for Hospital!!
Hi Heather.  I just had my vsg on Monday so I say keep it simple.  All I took was my favorite pillow, lip balm, cell phone, comfy bra (not the one you wear on a daily basis), and most importantly biotene moisturizing mouth spray (because your mouth will be VERY dry after surgery).  IMO, no need to take xtra clothes because you'll wear the hospital gown along with their no skid socks.  I wore the same clothes home I came in the morning before.

As for at home...get your prescriptions filled (pain med, anti-nausea) before you go to the hospital.  depending on your post-op instructions..plenty of chicken broth, flavored waters, and herbal tea.  also if you can tolerate it, get some clear protein (such as isopure) or unflavored that can be added to liquids.  Unjury makes a chicken soup with 20 grams protein per cup.  Unfortunately I don't like it.

Good luck!

Hi there.  Call your doctor and get an order for an anti-nausea med.  Good luck!

Topic: RE: I cheated!!!
No biggie, it happens!  On my 2 week pre-op "liquid" diet I was suppose to do Medifast (HORRIBLE)  instead followed an Atkins diet.  I also "cheated" 4 times in that two week period (not that I would advise doing that).  I still lost weight and my liver was nice and small.  Good luck!

Topic: RE: blurry vision after surgery...anyone?
Hi Jodie.  Yes I have a patch behind my ear (actually they placed it on my neck under the ear).  Too afraid to remove it yet.  Thanks for the info.

Congratulations, I was sleeved Monday as well.  How are you feeling today?  Drinking ok?  I'm having terrible gas pains from anesthesia.  Also my eyesite is blurry so if something is spelled wrong...so sorry. LOL

OMGosh Lovely, I got home yesterday too and the gas pains are killing me!!  Hope we feel better soon.  Are you able to drink without any problems?  Also, is your vision ok?  Mine is blurry for some reason (when reading small print).  Weird.

Hugs,
Jennifer

Topic: RE: blurry vision after surgery...anyone?

My eyes have always been fine, no trouble seeing at all.  Since surgery on Monday my vision is blurry (small print anyway.  large print ok).  As I'm typing now the words aren't clear. Is this normal?  Anyone?  Thanks.

Topic: RE: terrible gas pains, please help!

My surgery was on Monday and all went well.  Starting yesterday after I left the hospital I began having gas pain (or so this is what I think it is).  Under my breasts/diaphragm area.  Sometimes it goes in waves..hurts...stops..hurts...stops.  I'm walking a lot and taking gasx strips but it's not helping.  Anyone out there have advise for me?  This is just miserable.  Thanks in advance.

Topic: RE: pre-op liq diet = torture
I was suppose to do a 2 week Medifast liquid diet and could only tolerate 2 days.  It tasted HORRIBLE plus I felt very nauseated.  First time in my life I actually felt like I was starving.  I spoke with my NUT and although she suggests staying as close to the Medifast as possible I followed an Atkins diet.  Call your nut and see if she can work with you.  Good luck, this is truly the hard part!

Topic: RE: I'm sleeved!!!

All went well friends, thank you for your thoughts and prayers.  I can't believe I actually went through with this surgery.  New and exciting times ahead.  Woot!  Woot!  Feeling pretty good right now.  Of course narcotics will do that for a person ;)  No gas pains "yet."  Will probably go home tomorrow, we'll see.  Doc thought it might be a good idea to stay an xtra day since I have five little ones a home.  More details to come later.  The screen is kind of blurry right now.  Have a great day!
