My doctor also uses a size 40f bougie. He told me he won't use anything smaller because it increases the chance of having relux. I take no PPI's (acid reducer) and I don't know of anyone in my support group who does easier. I got to goal in 8 months and am 104 pounds down from my highest weight. I can NOT eat more than 3/4 to a cup of food. 5 medium shrimp stuffs me. My sleeve was done right and I can live a normal life. I have also heard people saying a 40 is "too big" but I disagree. Yes, that pulling sensation is totally normal. I can tell you that I HATED the drain so much that is was a good distraction that I was on clear liquids. I am a year post op and I am very happy with how the drain site (and other sites) are clearing up.

I never crushed pills before either. I took my capsules the day after surgery. If you feel fine....you ARE fine :) Good luck and congrats.

This time last year I was 245 pounds and miserable. I had a failed LapBand and gained all the weight back. I had heel spurs and borderline high blood pressure. I was scared to death to jump back into WLS, but I found the most amazing doctor with the best team.

It was the best decision I have ever made. I am now 148 pounds, which has far exceeded my expectations. I feel better than I ever have in my life. I am confident, healthy, and feel great!!!!

You should NOT have under 800 calories a day. Your body needs calories to burn calories, especially if you exercise. I eat about 1000-1200 a day and got to goal in 8 months. Good luck. You are doing great.

My surgeon only uses a size 40 as well. His reasoning is that the smaller the sleeve, the higher chance of complications. I have NO relux and don't need any ppi's. It's true that the difference is sizes is very time.

I will be 10 months out on Nov 3rd, lost 96 pounds (1 pound below goal). I can NOT eat more than 3/4 cup of food.

Hope this helps. If you trust your surgeon, trust his advice. If not, find someone who you are more comfortable with. GOOD LUCK!

GET A NEW DOCTOR FAST! You never know if you have an emergency and need to see a doctor, don't put yourself into the hands of a novice.

Happened to me with the LapBand and it was awful. Good Luck!

Although it's disappointing, it's for your safety. You are at risk for a leak up until day 14. I was on clear liquids for 1 week then full for 2 weeks. But all your pain right now is so worth it!!!! It took me 8 months to get to goal!!!

Measure your food, and keep a log. Then call your nut with the information. That way you can figure out if your eating too little or not exercising enough. I had a problem with high calorie nuts, not realizing I was eating too many calories in the nuts. Keep with it, it WORKS...

I had many stalls and still got to goal in 8 months.

I had this problem until I spoke with my nutritionist. She said eat high fiber for breakfast and high protein the rest of the day. I eat Kashi honey almond flax or bran chex for breakfast. I also snack on dry roasted edamame. They are soybeans packed with protein and fiber. Taste like peanuts. They sell them on amazon. If you need relief try "peri-colace" it's sold over the counter. You take between 1 and 4 pills before bed (3 is my magic number), then you are fine in the morning. Its expensive $18 but good for occasional use until you are regular. It used to be only by prescription..

The smaller the sleeve the higher chance for servere acid reflux. my doctor used a "bougie" as a guide. I had a size 40 which some consider on the big size but I can NOT eat more than 3/4 cup of food and I'm 9 months out. I got to goal in 8 months and lost nothing pre op. My doctor said he took out 85% of my stomach. I would ask this doctor how he determines the size, does he use a bougie?

I had my port removed 10 days after surgery. It did not hurt at all. Maybe because I was farther out. I took literally 5 seconds. I felt MUCH better after it ws out.

I think you should be fine. I had the drain for 10 days and that was tough, hopefully you won't have one in that long. I did take off 4 weeks. I had the time though. I could have gone back after 3 but heck, I was off!

Take it easy and concentrate on your fluids. Its SO important. Good Luck

Honestly...better strep throat than a virus that can't be quickly treated. Strep responds quickly to antibiotics and you should be feeling much better after 24 hours. Congrats...you will LOVE your sleeve....Let the FUN begin....Life will get better every day.

Shrimp is a slider food for me. I am about the same time out of surgery and since I try to chew well, I can eat around 6-7 large shrimp. So I can say you are in the normal range. I like to pack about 6 for lunch.

My weight loss had nothing to do with time, but more with weight. I found it was much harder to lose weight once I got below 170. I can say losing the last 20 pounds to get to 150 was the hardest. I have not changed my eating and still work out, I just stopped losing weight. I am thrilled with my weight so all it good. I am 9 months out.

I had the evil lap band removed and had the sleeve. The sleeve recovery is more involved. The first couple days are rough but I WOULD DO IT TEN MORE TIMES TO GET THESE RESULTS! My highest lapband weight was 252. I was 245 the day of sleeve surgery and a mere 8 months later I weight 150!!!

I live like a normal person and so will you. I just eat less. I am never hungry and I have no vomiting, relux or any other effects. I LOVE the control the sleeve gives me. good luck!
