Topic: RE: February 20, 2013

I look at the Wyoming board once in a while, but it is pretty dead.  Sounds like you have your head in the game for getting back on track.  I know it is SOOOOO much harder to lose re-gain than when we originally lost the weight.  I lost 150lbs, re-gained 40 and now have lost 10 of that.  It is an every day struggle to make good food choices, get plenty of fluids, take all the vitamins and forget exercise at this point since I am working 50-55 hrs a week and still have a hubby, kids and grandkids to take care of.

Hang in there, stay strong and take one day at a time, heck, even one hour at a time if you have too.

Topic: RE: Does anyone come to this board anymore??

Hi Jeanne, welcome to the Wyoming Forum. Congrats on getting your 6 month supervised diet completed, now the hard part, waiting for the insurance to approve. Hang in there, I also had BCBS of Wyoming and they actually sent my approval pretty quick.

Feel free to ask any questions and best of luck to you on your journey!

Congrats on surgery! Hope you are feeling well and having a smooth recovery.
Topic: RE: Second thoughts?
Have you posted in the Lap Band board? You will find people there that are happy and healthy with their band and people who hate it. I think no matter what surgery it is you will hear the good and the bad. I personally chose RNY because I had 150 lbs to lose and knew the RNY would have a greater chance of helping me reach my goal. I agree with the people you have talked to in saying I feel I made the best decision for me. I was able to reach my goal and have kep the weight off for nearly  6 years.

Talk to your doctor about how you are feeling. He might have some insight to help you with your decision. As far as the insurance is concerned, just call and ask their policy for coverage on RNY.

You're not completely alone, another Wyomingite right here!

The two surgeons listed above work in Cheyenne. I have spoke with them and they  do accept patients from other surgeons for follow up care.  I'm sure they can direct you to a support group in the area. Good Luck! Jennifer

Topic: RE: Home
Dottie, Glad to hear everything went well and you made it home okay.  I'm not sure the rule on soda for the lap band but I know it is a HUGE no, no for RNY patients.  You will find there is tons of new drinks on the market with lots of different flavors so you will something you love.  Best of luck to you on your journey and "Welcome to the losers bench"! Jennifer

Topic: RE: Gillette
I had a LAP-RYN in Jackson Hole with Dr. Balliro. He splits his time between Jackson and his practice in Florida. Shoot me an e-amail at jmagee8871@bresnan.net if you are going to be in town and need support or a friend. We have support group meetings at the hospital every 2nd & 4th Tuesday if you are ever in town on those days.

Topic: RE: any support groups in my area?
Sorry, I'm in Casper, but I wanted to wish you the best of luck with your surgery. You're almost on the losers bench, it's a beautiful place to be.
Topic: RE: Big Horn Basin support group
Just ignore the last question, I just saw you are in Basin. Sorry.
Topic: RE: Big Horn Basin support group
Working very hard on the 30lbs. The carb monster is also my downfall (and grazing). I had a long talk with the hubbie and he agreed to eat high protein/low-carb with me as he wants to lose 20lbs. We are working out together every morning and trying to keep each other on track. Where in the Basin are you located?
Topic: RE: Big Horn Basin support group
Sorry Kathy, I am not in the Big Horn Basin...in Casper. But if you ever want to chat or need support please don't hesitate to shoot me an e-mail. I am currently working on losing the 30lbs I gained back and understand how important a support group is. I wish the best of luck in finding a group.
