Topic: RE: Where is Dr. Facundus?
Dr. Facundus has relocated out of state.  For the last nine years I have been his partner at Alabama Surgical Associates, and I have purchased his share of the practice.  Understanding that bariatric patients need long-term follow-up with a bariatric surgeon, I have agreed to continue follow-up care for his patients.  If you are a patient of Dr. Facundus and would like to continue follow-up care with our office, please call our office at 256-880-1977 to schedule your appointment.

Congrats on being so close to getting your surgery scheduled. Hope all goes well. Let me caution you about buying up a lot of items to "eat" or "drink" after surgery. Your tastes will change quite a bit for at least a while. Just buy enough to get you by the first week or so and see what works best for you within the list your doctor gives you. Also, the RNY forum here is real active and you might want to post over there too.

The most important thing is to follow your doctor's plan. Walk alot after your surgery, sip, sip, and sip some more. Concentrate on getting in your protein and vitamins and as soon as you feel like it, start exercising. This is the time to CHANGE YOUR HABITS. If you don't do that, you will gain the weight back. This is not a magic bullet. It is a tool to get you to a manageable weight and then it's all up to you.

Congrats on getting such a quick approval, and with Medicaid no less. So many Medicaid recipients are looking for surgeons to do WLS. I know since you posted here some of them will now know about Dr. Isbell accepting Medicaid and that is a good thing. God bless and good luck on your surgery and journey! There is also an RNY board here that is pretty active. You can get great support there as well as here.

I can't tell you how relieved I am to see your surgery has been changed to RNY. The lapband is in my opinion a waste of time. I know there are a few who have been successful with it, but mostly not. You might want to also post or hang out on the RNY board. Quite a bit of activity over there. I had been away from OH for a while but came back to help myself be more accountable, since I am 6 years out. It's harder to keep the weight off the further out you are.

God bless and good luck with your surgery!!

You might want to look up Melting Mama (MM) on the main board. I know she has it and knows ALOT about it. Sorry for your diagnosis. I've heard it's tough.

Welcome!  Our little Alabama board is quiet, but we've got some great folks here.

My advice is this:  Do what your doctor tells you to do, and be comitted to completely changing your lifestyle.  And of course, EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE.

We are here for you if you need anything, and be prepared to go shopping!  I had to even replace all of my shoes (which didn't break my heart because I love shoes!!)
