So, I'm volunteering at an orphanage in the Philippines and apparently one of the kids is deaf. He's 8 yrs old and knows very little sign language. I bought him a book, but it teaches American sign. Would that be applicable? If not, how do I find out what dialect of sign language he should be learning? Any other options for helping him learn? Thanks!!! your help is very appreciated!

I see this a very old post but was wondering if you ever found anyone to help you? I have contacts in the Philippines that sign and have contact with the deaf community there that could help. I am a sign language interpreter and a colleague of mine was there last year.

Is it difficult to follow a good wls diet there? What kind of things do you eat? I am currently researching VSG.
