I didn't have to loose any but my surgery was 5 years ago...  I've noticed that some doctors require weight loss prior to surgery and others don't so you'll have to see what your doctor requires.   Have a great day!

Dominican:  Insurance requirements appear to be different.  I didn't have to lose weight - My insurance (United Health Care) just required DR documentation that I had a BMI of 40 for the past 5 years.  I was just approved and I am scheduled for RNY on 9-25.  Good luck with your process. Chikita
