The man on the ad says that he is a bariatric surgeon who has created the " full bar" to do what the band would do. Restriction. You eat the bar 20 mins before your main meals and drink a glass of water and it will give you restriction so you will eat less. This sounds like such crap! has anyone actually tried this? |

I dont remember his name but I did this about a month or so ago when I first saw the commercial. Also if you watch the commercial the woman they show eating the bar does not need to lose weight in any way. |

I went to the informational meeting for the bypass and there you have all the sizes, 200lbs, 300, 400. and more. Some people in wheelchairs and others with limited mobility... you get the picture. Then to my surprise, and sitting right next to me mind you, was a young woman in I would say late 20's early 30's who was about 5' 6" or so and couldnt have gone a pound or two over 145!!!
She sat through three quarters of the meeting with her mom when she realized it just wasnt for her. Ya think?? LOL At that weight she was within the range for her height. And she was taking notes like a maniac and trying to see if she had any co-morbid conditions so she would qualify for the surgery!
It just goes to show that no matter what your weight, you can suffer from poor body image.
I have seen that full bar commercial as well by the way. I also thought that was strange...it sounded like a sponge the way you drink the water and it expands....and who knows what long term effects something like this has...and what chemicals they use to get this reaction. Kinda scary.

kimfiveash lubbock, TX Member Since: 02/05/07 [Latest Posts] | Post Date: 7/2/08 2:03 pm i remember when i was about 145 pounds - i went to what was advertised as a "wt loss program" at a local hospital - i was probably in my 20s - mid 20s anyway - and when i got there everyone in the room was at lest 200+ pounds. they were talking about vbg - whic was "the thing" bak in the 90s i guess - and people were looking at me like i was CRAZY but, in my mind, i was as big as they were - i had this "fat" mentality. i dont know why. i have read though that the mind listens to what we say and responds accordingly. so, i "became" one of "those" people - in my mind - i already was. strange

NavyWife25 Clifton, CO Member Since: 04/13/07 [Latest Posts] | Post Date: 7/2/08 11:49 am The surgeon is Dr. Michael Snyder, he's from Denver colorado, he's my moms surgeon and he's an AWESOME surgeon. He's pretty much tied with one ofther surgeon (Dr. Johnell... my surgeon) as number one bariatric surgeon in Colorado. I don't personally know how the full bar works since I haven't tried it since i had gastric bypass, but the concept seems like it would work. Who knows.... but Dr. Snyder definitely is a great surgeon so he's not just some quack saying he's a surgeon so that he can promote the bars. I'm sure he makes a LOT MORE from surgeries than he does this. IT'S BASEBALL SEASON!!!!!! |

Thanks for posting this! I saw the ad the other day and it made me laugh. I told my husband, hey, I could have saved thousands and just bought a "full bar" I think if you put Weight Loss in front of anything, you'll make lots and lots of money. Okay, so does he have all his patients try the full bar before he operates on them? Hmmm????
Take care,

wendy_fou AR Member Since: 06/22/07 [Latest Posts] | Post Date: 7/2/08 1:19 pm Some diet industry company already had a pill that was supposed to do exactly the same thing. You took the pill (or 2 or 3 - however many it was) with water 30 minutes before you ate. The pill was supposed to "bloat up" in your stomach so you felt full and wanted to eat less. If the pill really worked, we'd have all heard about it by now and every fat person in America would have bought it. That tells me it was crap. His bars will undoubtedly be crap too. I hope his bariatric surgery practice (if in fact he even has one) goes under. |

kimfiveash lubbock, TX Member Since: 02/05/07 [Latest Posts] | Post Date: 7/2/08 2:02 pm i dont wish anything bad on this doctor - he might be a great surgeon for all i know - but, i do think he is "smart" well, like - you know what i mean
he must hbe doing something right - his bar is on TV and we are all talking about it - whether it works or not - i doubt!
now that he is probably making money off of people who think that since he is a bariatric surgeon that he must know what kind of "bar" would work. - he is problaby already working on the "next" great invention for wt loss - he will probably make lots of money
i know i have spent quite a bit of money for pop and flash diet tricks!
only do have dieted my way up to 270#
wow -
i am so glad those days are over -
all i have to do now is eat my 6 meals - and move on! |
