I went to the seminar today and we talked about the liquid diet they want us on preop - 1000 calories, 80 grams of protein.  The nurse said we could buy our own stuff for it.  What kind of stuff did you buy or do you recommend buying?

Maybe some beef or chicken broth...some sugar free popcycles are good ,will give you some crunch...perhaps some orange, or apple juice...make up some sugar free jello...I only had to be on liquids one day prior to my surgery...Oh by the way, dont forget to take your measurements...I didnt even think about doing it, and now I really wish that I knew how many inches Ive lost so far...Good luck

Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only TRUE FRIENDS will leave footprints in your heart...And may that friendship have such a ONENESS that when one weeps the other will taste salt...Friends are like balloons ; once you let them go you can't get them back....So I'm going to tie you to my heart so I never lose you.

I cringe at the thought of the pre-op diet..I had to do liquids for 3 days...ughh !!!
I had broth (which is not that great)...jello, popsicles, water, and diluted juices...not the most fufilling stuff. How many days do you have to be on the liquid diet?
The problem is that you will get sick of it..trust me..and everything you can eat/drink is so sweet...it gets sickening after awhile..of course I find the sugar free stuff to be more sweet.
    Good luck

My surgeon required an 8-day liquid fast; the last (8th) day was clear liquids only.  I was allowed EITHER slim fast high protein R-T-D shakes OR 5 Carnation Instant Breakfast (mixed with skim milk) 5 times a day.  + jello, fruit 2-0, broth, sugar-free ice pops, my favorite was chicken bullion - I know it doesn't sound glamorous, but it tastes and smells pretty good when you're doing liquids for 8 days.  You can do this.  If I can do it - anyone can do it.  Be determined.  Don't cheat.  Good luck!
