Funny you ask... I was at my doctors yesturday and was talking about that same thing.  Well this is what was said,  there is the pill, wich is taken every day; there is a ring of some sort, which you change every 3 weeks and one week off;  the condom, which i find gets in teh way but if it prevent a pregnancy then that is good,  there is also the shot which i dont like and of course there is the quarter between the legs which my doctor said won't last very long, lol..   So i walk out of the office with nothing as of yet, and if you find a good one be sure to let me know PLEASE.... and i fogot the IUD which i have already tryed and my body rejected it only a few hours later

I have a paragard IUD that has no hormones, easily reversable, and lasts 10 years.  The Mirena lasts 5 years, does have localized hormones, and is also easily reversable.

Keep in mind that you will be *extremely* fertile while you are melting.  Please use 2 forms of B****il the rapid weight loss phase is over.. or you might get a surprise (and yes, it happens quite frequently..)

I use the nuvaring and so far so good.  It's recommended for women who've had gb.  One thing though, I had a hell of a time getting it in until I lost a good amt. of weight.  Now it goes in and out without any issues.

I saw a commericial for mirena on tv and it looks so awesome.  You have to have already had a baby though.  So, I don't qualify.  It's called an IUC, a little different from an IUD and it lasts for up to 5 years.  If you google it you'll get tons of info.

I have used the Nuva Ring for years even before surgery.  Just last Friday I had the Essure procedure done and will still continue with  my Nuva Ring for hormone and period control.

I've used the Depo shot for years.  One shot every 3 months and no period.  It hasn't affected my weightloss at all.  Eventualy my DH will make the appt for his snipping  and I won't have to worry about anything anymore!

My OB/GYN recommended Nuva RIng also.  The CRNP said you have to be comfortable inserting it though.  I have not tried it yet, but was asked again today what I intend to do a/b BC.  My friend had RNY with a different MD and was also on Nuva Ring.

This is a sore spot for me. I'm pre-op and I've been on DepoProvera shots for 3 years for control of heavy bleeding. No period now, but my GYN says that the shot can cause some people to put on up to 10lbs a year. She wants me off the depo and to have an ablation procedure called NovaSure, in which the lining of the utereus is cauterized. The catch is hubby must have a vasectomy because it is possible to still get pregnant and of course one would miscarry with no uterine lining. Hubby is dragging his feet on the vasectomy. I even had my GYN talk to him about why it is important for me to get off the Depo shot.
( I am also having night sweats and hot flashes, caused by the Depo shot tricking my body into pre-menopause)

I can't figure out why hubby won't get fixed! It's not like they are gonna cut it off, LOL. And even before we got married we knew we did not want children.
    So what's the big deal?
