    lose righ after surgery?

The reason i am asking is because, for the past two days i've been at the same weight. i've lost about 23 pounds but for some reason it just doesnt seem like that much for being 11 days out of surgery. Or am I being crazy?
I am moving more than I ever have, getting as much protein in as possible but darn I am just so darn curious about everybody else's poundage LOL.<br />
I never post in here I always post in the Indiana forum so I am curious to all the responses I might get

I was down 22 pounds at that point.  That was right before my first stall which lasted quite a while.  Your body needs to adjust to what you've done to it.

I'm a sleevster, not an RNY'er but I lost 21 in the first week, then 5 in the next two weeks and in the 10 days since another 6.

Like someone else said STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE ... you will drive yourself crazy weighing everyday.

I've only lost 44 pounds in 3 months, and you're worried about 23 pounds in 2 weeks???  Please, my first 30 pounds was in the first 4 weeks, then I have stalled so many times since then its incredible!!

I agree that maybe you should stay off the scale...  especially if it's only going to make you as crazy as the scale makes me!!!  LOL

3 weeks is about the time of ther FIRST stall. try to stay way from the scale daily. I weigh in about every 10-14 days, SO FAR I have a lost every time, thats all I ask for.

You MIGHT be crazy but not in this case

    Tisha,

Put the scale in a closet, deep in the closet and don't take it out for at least 6 months.  I had a tremendous amount of weight to lose.  I lost quickly the first month, by the end of the second month I had lost 100 lbs.  I then didn't lose anything for 6 weeks.  If I had been hopping on that scale I would have been so upset.  Trust in your tool, take advantage of the honeymoon period and above all else forget the scale for now.

Good luck, you are doing GREAT.

You should be EXTEMELY happy wit that 23 lbs.  23lbs in ELEVEN days?  Whens the last time you lost that on your own?  And it has ONLY been 11 days!!!  Be happy with your 23 lbs.  It took me a month to loose 20.

Get off the scale and concentrate on healing from major abdominal surgery.

This is what is going on, courtesy of Diana Cox:

A "stall" at this point is inevitable, and here is why.

Our bodies use glycogen for short term energy storage. Glycogen is not very soluble, but it is stored in our muscles for quick energy -- one pound of glycogen requires 4 lbs of water to keep it soluble, and the average glycogen storage capacity is about 2 lbs. So, when you are not getting in enough food, your body turns first to stored glycogen, which is easy to break down for energy. And when you use up 2 lbs of glycogen, you also lose 8 lbs of water that was used to store it -- voila -- the "easy" 10 lbs that most people lose in the first week of a diet.

As you stay in caloric deficit, however, your body starts to realize that this is not a short term problem. You start mobilizing fat from your adipose tissue and burning fat for energy. But your body also realizes that fat can't be used for short bursts of energy -- like, to outrun a sabertooth tiger. So, it starts converting some of the fat into glycogen, and rebuilding the glycogen stores. And as it puts back the 2 lbs of glycogen into the muscle, 8 lbs of water has to be stored with it to keep it soluble. So, even though you might still be LOSING energy content to your body, your weight will not go down or you might even GAIN for a while as you retain water to dissolve the glycogen that is being reformed and stored.
