I suffer from PTS, Does anyone have other suggestions.
My doctor wants to put me on eflexor but Im not depressed.

I just need somthing at Night to calm the "Night Terrors"
or anxiety befor I go to bed.

Adavan does wonders for me. But my Doctor says I want it to much
so she wont perscribe it for me due to it being so addictive.

So I just don't use anything becouse I dont want to be on somthing
every single day of my life when I am not depressed and my doctor is ok with that...
I WOULD CALL HER A NAMEE.......If I didnt love her so much...lol that name would start iwth a big B!!!..lol

I just need somthing befor bed to calm the anxiety and let me go to sleep.??

Iv tryed Teas and Vitamins.....anything other then that method
    would be great.

    ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I KNOW I CANT SPELL SORRRRRRRYYYYYY!

Ativan is a potentially dangerous drug. The SSRI antidepressants like Effexor would be helpful to you and decrease your anxiety tremendously. You have a good doc if she won't just let you take ativan. It is not in your best interest. I have worked with patients who had to detox from ativan and you don't want to go there! The SSRI's  are for anxiety and for depression. They are given for PMS and they are given for explosive anger, so don't second guess  your doc. She is  helping you. I'd take the effexor or one of the others if that one doesn't work. You can't tell in advance which one will work for which person.

There is an over the counter medication called melatonin which isn't addictive and doesn't cause problems. Many people feel it helps them sleep. There are also things which you could learn in therapy about dealing with anxiety through relaxation, self talk and meditation or prayer whichever works best for  you.  You also need to look at sleep ecology. You can google that on the internet and find out some suggestions that make sleep more restful.

Again, talking to a counselor might help a lot with  your anxiety.

I practice the self talk that keeps me from running to the Hospital every second. It took a long time but it works for me. To calm down and get my head straight when I am going through it.

Thank you so much for taking time for me Connie.

I suffer from anxiety also.  I sometimes take Calms Forte.  It is a natural thing.  I have taken it for years.  Here is a link to it.

Wish I could help you.  I have a horrible time going to sleep.
I feel for you with the Ativan. Xanax works for me, but it is about the same addictive drug. Gotta be very careful.

    I have no suggestions. Sorry!

    Hugs,

I did the same thing when I first started wearing my CPAP....my pcp put me on a low dose of Valium that was used as needed....nothing routine.  It worked like a charm.....he instructed me to take a 5mg tablet about an hour before I went to bed, and if I should wake up in the middle of the night, like I often do.....I could take another.

Works wonders for me.....I no longer wear the CPAP, but I still have troubles with insomnia and the Valium helps about 3-4 times a month.  I don't much care for something that I have to take every night.

My pcp told me that Valium is an oldy but goody and that in lower doses used on an as needed basis, addiction is not likely.  He also stressed that it almost zero hang over effect like many drugs used to treat insomnia, anxiety, night terrors.

Definately ask about it.  I have had Ativan in the past for anxiety.....I never liked the hang over feeling it made me have, so I took very few.....only when I was desperate and knew I was not going to be leaving the house.  It made me sleep way too much.

I used to take Xanex at bed time also a dangerous drug and very addictive.  Now I take Seeroquel 200 mg and a Melatonin (over the counter) 3 mg and I actually get a very restful sleep and don't have to worry about getting addicted.  HTH Renee A.
