Anyone here lost 200lbs+ post RNY? Just wondering......

    Hi all!

I was just wondering..... to those who have lost 200lbs+ post op, how long did it take you to lose that amount of weight? I have lost 119lbs in the last 6months post-op, but still have 95+lbs to go to reach my goal. I know that the weight loss can slow down over time, but I am hoping that I can get as close to my goal as possible by my 1 year surgiversary, which will also be my wedding day!!

So really I just want some inspiration- It would be interesting to see how much others have lost over time, and keep me motivated!!

    Many thanks

I've lost 214 lbs and it took me a year to lose 200 lbs. I'm losing much slower now, I've only lost 2 lbs in the last month.

Wow! Congratulations on your amazing success!! I'm trying to stay focused on eating right and getting my exercise in and so am hoping the weight loss will continue as it has!!

Sometimes I get a bit negative though and worry that I'm not doing things right, and that I'm not gonna get to goal.. BUT I am  determined, and I never would've lost the 119lbs that I have done without having the RNY!!

    Thanks for the inspiration!!

I lost 250 lbs. in a little less than 2 years.  I am still losing currently but am very close to goal so it's slowed down to just 1-2 pounds a week.

Sometimes you will plateau and it feels like the weight loss won't continue, but it will restart.  Pay attention to your plateaus and losing schedule.  I always found a pattern (usually around my women's cycle).  That kept me motivated because I knew that the losing would continue if I just kept going.

Also, make sure you are measuring!  I lost 100 inches long before I lost 100 pounds.  When I wasn't losing pounds, I was still losing inches.  Another motivator.

    Good luck in your journey!
Well done on your amazing success, and thanks for replying, your post has made me feel much better!! I just panic now an again that the weight loss will suddenly stop and I won't get to my goal! But fingers crossed I will, as I am SO determined!!

Thanks for putting it into perspective for me!! I know I am AMAZED that I have lost so much so far, and hopefully I will be able to continue successfully to goal!! I've never been a normal weight, so panic sometimes that the weight loss will stop and I'll go back to where I started!! But I am very thankful for what I've achieved and determined to get to my goal!!

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE 119 LBS LOST!! I lost 225 pounds in 16 months following GBS. I gained 70 pounds while pregnant with my daughter, lost it all in 6 months after she was born. Pregnant again and gained 20 pounds already, am faithful I will lose it all and more yet again!!
I started at 392 and lost 35 pounds prior to surgery (required to lose by Dr.).  At surgery I was 357.  So, I have lost 190 since surgery.  That took me 21 months to lose.  I have been pretty stable since...bouncing around the same couple of pounds for a few months now.

I could buckle down and lose more but I am comfortable where I am now.  I know with plastics I' get rid of at least 20 pounds.  My mid-section is a mess but girdles are a wonderful invention!

My advice...follow the rules and EXERCISE.  I am the first to admit to the lack of exercise in my life.  I work on this issue everyday.  I loathe it but it is necessary.
hi have lost from 400+ down to 134-138 ..i had lap-rny on June 15Th ,06 ...Brenda in TX ..
    was 400+ june 15th,06,..now 145-150 as of may15th,09 ... wow!!!what a ride .
    Hi Vicky,

I lost 215 lbs. in 15 months.  My surgery was 10/24/07 and I hit the 200 lbs. lost  at exactly 1 year out.   I am 5'9".

I think you are doing great!!    For comparison purposes, I lost 131 lbs by six months out, which meant it took me another six months to lose 69 more lbs. to achieve my 200 lbs. goal by one year out.

Since my 1 year surgiversary, I have lost 15 more lbs. , bringing my total to 215 lbs. by 12/24/08.
I'd like to lose 5 more to reach a final goal 150 lbs., but I'm not pushing too hard.  I have loosened up my eating somewhat, and haven't lost a pound since Christmas Eve. I even gained 4 lbs., which I have since lost and am back to 155.

I have to confess that I have lost all this weight with VERY little exercise.  I am not proud of this fact and have made a commitment that 2009 will be my year to get fit (2008 was my year to get healthy and I did it!!!!).

If you are wiser than I am and exercise regularly while keeping true to your nutrition guidelines, I feel very confident that you will reach your goal by your wedding day. Having said this, whatever weight loss you accomplish by your 1 year surgiversary (and wedding day) will be a TREMENDOUS achievement and one to be proud of.

Congratulations on your wonderful success and good luck with the remainder! Feel free to PM me with any questions.
