It varies from person to person as you can see by the responses. I am 7 months out and I get 1200 per day and I am still losing. Slowly but still losing. I had an appointment with my nut on Friday and she said I am doing fine and keep doing what I have been.

No, probably not.  I think by a year out most people are eating about 1000 - 1200 calories a day.  But you should ask your doctor or dietician.

Thanks so much for the responses.  I feel great so far.  I am at 203lbs from 290lbs and I am still losing about 3-4lbs per week at 700 cal. a day.  My appetite has increased in the last 2 months and I am trying to stay at my 700-800 cal. a day. I just wasn't sure whether it was still healthy to be at that little amount.  I guess if I'm feeling good and my bloodwork is good, then I am okay.  I will ask the doc the next time I'm in to see him, but it isnt until Jan. Thanks again!! Mere

When I went for my 6 month checkup with my NUT and surgeon, I was only eating about 700-800 calories and I was told that I wasn't eating enough and that I would lose weight faster if I would eat more.  If you don't eat enough, your body goes into starvation mode and you don't lose as much weight.  Try to eat small meals  6 times per day, it will increase your calorie intake.  I also increased my calories by having a protein shake for breakfast - it alone is 300 calories and 30 grams of protein.
