    Getting in all the fluids????

I just had sugery Dec, 14th and can not figure how to get in all the fluid that they say I need.
I'm still to this day finding it very hard most day's to get my water in. But the best way that I find is to keep something beside me so that I can sip, sip, sip. This helps!

    MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Hi Starry - I had surgery the day after you and I also have been having a hard time w/ it
I got 4 16 oz bottles and I make deals w/ myself - 30 minutes after my first breakfast shake I start sipping bottle one - and then I try to do two of the bottles between the lunch and dinner shake and the final bottle after the dinner ... so far I have made it up to 3 bottles so I am still short 16oz but its a start.....as I sip sip walk, sip sip walk, I keep reminding myself that both of these items are so important to a good recovery!
I still struggle every day! I like plastic bottles because it makes it easier for me to keep track.

I even sleep with a 16 oz bottle in bed with me and I wake up and drink from it. It is empty by morning.

Remember to count all your fluids in that total.

It is hard. I make 64 oz but never go over, ever. I wish I could!

I was sleeved on 12/17 and have had a really hard time getting in all my fluids.  Especially as I was told no more than 4 oz per hour, or 1 oz per 15 min.  As I pointed out to the bariatric nurse, that's 16 hours of sipping to get in 64 oz.  And then I'm not supposed to drink for an hour before or after one of my small 3 oz or less "meals." LOL  I had to also point out that leaves me only 2 hours left in the day for other things like sleep!  Just do the best you can and what I understand is that over time the 4 oz an hour will increase as our tummies heal and can tolerate the fluids a little better going through without getting stuck and causing a problem. Like one other poster here I also keep a glass beside my bed and when I wake up take a few sips -- whatever it takes

    1st goal = 215#, MET   2nd goal = Onederland, MET
    3rd goal = 175#, MET   4th goal = > BMI of 29.9, MET
5th goal = 155#, MET Final WL goal = 140# or less and  normal BMI

First find some kid of drink you can tolerate.  Then fix a huge glass of it and carry it with you everywhere, and take a sip at every pause you make through the day

It's hard at first. But you need to a) measure out your fluids/keep track, and just keep sipping and sucking and swallowing constantly. Have you tried ice pops yet?
